Etana "Nectar of the Gods"

Two-time Grammy-nominated reggae sensation Etana is back with her new album "Nectar of the Gods," scheduled to be released on July 26, 2024. This latest album showcases Etana's versatility, signature blend of soulful melodies, and empowering lyrics, further cementing her status as a leading force in contemporary reggae music. "Nectar of the Gods" features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Shatta Wale, Bugle, Randy Valentine, Samini, Big Youth, Mr. Cheeks and Jon FX, Etana, known for her powerful vocals and socially conscious themes, has once again crafted a collection that will resonate deeply with fans and newcomers alike. "Nectar of the Gods" continues her tradition of creating music that not only entertains but also carries profound messages of love, resilience, and gratitude.Etana always sounds strong and solid. So we highlight the following songs for they are the albums best: the actual 'Nectar  of the Gods.' 'Train' featuring producer Jon FX is the first to stand out for it's emotion. If you want 'More' of Etana that song has it too. It just feels so real. Samini is one of our favorite reggae artists from the MotherLand and he shows why on I want to 'Stay With You,' which has previously released. This is our tops for the album. If you love the love of Etana like we do, she does it best when its with love or about Love. The strong one shows strong versatility with the Shatta on 'Set Up Yourself.'Her dancehall side comes out on 'Nuh Know Bout We.' Bad gal time step back if you can't handle it. The attitude is there so watcha. Remember 'Jah Never Fail Etana yet  and we are ure he will Itinually guide this star. She is not ungrateful and will not give up. There is no signs of it In fact,. Etana shows versatility musically on this album, lots of small signs. Will she take a different direction? Presently we are just enjoying the "Nectar of the Gods." Selah.

Fia "Threat (Fall In Love)"
Hawaii'ans have an innate vibe. Musically, they are very soulful and one of it's rising stars and prodigal sons Fia has a new 3-track deluxe single 'Threat (Fall in Love),' will show you why. He has a way with words, she is a 'Threat' right now but if she let a man check her right now she will make a man fall in love.right now The title track includes a feature from Hawaiian reggae heavy hitters The Green. His voice sets him apart. Fia is a lover and it shows in 'Hold You Tonight.' His voice and word wizardry show on 'Tricky Girl' with a sweet melody. Fia is done running around. He means business and if you listen again you are hooked. He'll be releasing his full length album 'Never Give Up' on August 23rd, via Ineffable Records. He has upcoming festival appearances at Holo Holo San Diego, Reggae On The Way, and Holo Holo Sacramento, and will also be supporting Common Kings on their tour starting in October.

Frankie Paul 'Smooth & Nice'
Certified Blind reggae/dancehall singer Frankie Paul, Jah bless his soul, has a classic for his dancehall fans. His music is 'Smooth & Nice' people want to hear it twice, dancehall style we have to rock it inna rub-a-dub style.' Sounds like one from his peak in the 1980's. Paul like to make people feel good and he achieve's it again here.

REGGAE/INSTRUMENTAL/JAZZ

Dean Fraser "Sax In Dub"
Dean Fraser has built a tremendous legacy as a Jamaican musician. No one else has done it quite like him. He is the go to guy in Jamaican music for the saxophone as will as the name brand for a musician choice as well. Fraser has released a new album appropriately named "Sax In Dub" because that is exactly what it presents. The musicians on this album are bassist Lloyd Parks, drummer Sly Dunbar, keyboardists Robbie Lyn & Franklin 'Bubbler' Waul, guitarist Dwight Pickney, bassist Danny Bassie, guitarist Mitchum Chin, and young & upcoming musicians Oshabe Love saxophone, Okeil McIntyre trumpet & Randy Fletcher trombone. (Love that they are giving the next generation a chance). Because of all this great musicianship and it’ dub & instrumentals, it gives it a jazz feel. Every title on the album has an appropriate name if you know the history of the music. Several tracks include classic riddims like 'Tempo' ('Above Rockers'), 'Belafonte Ghost' which uses 'Day-O' as the back drop, Alton Ellis's 'I'm Still In Love' is heard in 'Harvest In The Winter,' 'One Two Dub One Two Chant' is played over Satta Massa Gana riddim, 'Rankinkong' is the Bangarang riddim, 'Revolt' is Dennis Brown's 'Rub A Dub' track and lastly 'Too Much Question' should be the easiest on to tell where it is derived. If it is not we will tell you at the end. One of our favorite names of a track is 'Sterling Lester' because of who it represents and the order of the words in the name has a major appeal. If you do not know what we are talking about look up that name and it's relation to reggae & ska. Dean does a great job on this one to get the right feel on this track too. There's probably a few names of tracks on the album where we missed the full meaning of the names so let us know if you figured them all out. It's like a musical puzzle and we are curious. Here's your 'Answer' to the question above: Enjoy 19 tracks from Tad's Records 'where 'dubbing is a must'!!!!
