REGGAE
Dezarie "Guardian"
From out of the Virgin Islands, we have what is the closest thing we hear today to the great Vaughn Benjamin/Akae Beka & Midnite. Her name is Dezarie the empress & Queen of VI reggae music. Her new album is "Guardian" has the messages, the frequencies and vibe. The album starts with the daunting title track. Dezarie feels that babylon is trying to get 'Back To The Future.' Our favorite song is 'Criminal' for it's melody, saxophone and strong lyrics against those who enslaved others. This is the strongest part of the album between our fav to the next two songs. The vibe is right on 'Breathe In Strength.' It starts out a bit meditative. 'Hold On' to your pages like your phone, to the King of Kings, and 'Hold On' to the truth. She is speaking to her people. The militancy of 'Immortal Combat' is strong and carries the song. Her mission is in full affect, she did not come this far for 'No Failure.'Don't be that 'Snake Charmer.' You may ask 'Who Is Who,'well know who is who. Life will show you. Remember a 'Lion Is Lion.' Prepare to listen a few times.
Kenya Eugene "You Are I"
Kenya Eugene maybe new to many. She is a known artist in the Virgin Islands. It is her new reggae project called "You Are I." A variey of topical songs. The first is about repatriation in 'I And I.' Kenya's faith in Jah is strong because Jah 'Lift Up My Head.' 'In And Outtah Love' is her song of a relationship where thi is the norm. Lastly, 'You Are I' is not only the title track, it is a much deeper song of love. The lyrics seal that strength. All music is well produced and solid.
DANCEHALL
Vybz Kartel 'Ignite The World'
This type of dancehall has been his been his crossover success. It's called 'Ignite The World.' It has a decent melody and a real catchy beat.
