REGGAE
Chalart58 "Wet"
Sweet reggae coming through on this new album from Chalart58 called "Wet" As a producer he brought out alot of friends. First real notable one is colleague & artist turn producer Roberto Sanchez. We can not remember the last time we heard a new vocal track from Roberto. His productions are of note as well. Here Chalart58 brings out one of Spain's best vocalists in Roberto Sanchez with 'Kingdom Fall.' Contrary to the title Sanchez's 'Kingdom' is on the rise with his music. Don't be such a stranger Sr. Sanchez, nice to hear that voice again. Straight 80's style on the next vocal track with the versatile Sr Wilson with 'Love Fi Mi Nap.' Good to see the siesta is till a thing in Spain. Chalart58 brings out the versatility in Sr Wilson on 'Nap.' One of the singles from the album is a new artists to us Matah. Good vibes and her song is 'Mash It Up.' Another single starts the album with a solid singer Joe Yorke & 'Night Walking.' Most vocal tracks are followed with a dub track, not necessarily a dub to the vocal. The best so far are 'Activated Plan,' 'Combination Plan,' and we really love 'Green Tea' feat. Morgana Souljah on the melodica. An interesting track in this regard is 'I And Dub' feat. Pupa Congo and in this track is more of a dub with a great a organ phrase that leads into a great trombone same phrase with a vocal we will guess from Mr Congo. A nice track of both vocals & muic dubbed out. It is for the 'Soul Adventurous, we need your power and we need your soul.' Harry Roots' 'Jump Dem' almost sounds like Jam Down which also works. It's a very righteous tune yet the jam down vibe works too to make it a bit later and fun. Dennis Capra is the last vocal and the album ends Chalart58 with a sweaty dub 'Dub Sweaty.' enjoy it. It's actually 2 dub in one what a bonus. Lastly The Adventurers are the backing band good stuff.
Dub Lounge International “One Day”
When we first saw the band name, we automatically went with a dub band. Their album “One Day” started out that way in the name of dub. Two great dubs at that. Recently we have heard a few dub styled reggae inna nyabhinghi style, too. In fact, the first song we heard was ‘Nyanhinghi Thunder.’ This song is a jazzy dub that starts with a harmonica, our favorite.. The song comes to life and really comes off well musically and adds a guitar solo.. The vocal tracks are not as strong as the dub tracks in our opinion, mainly due to the great instrumentation of said dub tracks. The one vocal track that somewhat stood out was 'Dreadlocks & Ganja.' All the dub tracks really offer special music. They include: 'Sandalwood Dub' and' 'Why'd You Dub That,'
Algorhythm “Island”
Super group Algofhythm has release a 4 song EP “Island.” One thing this band does is put out catchy tunes. ‘O.A.I’ has super catchy chorus and it’s the title of the O-A-I.’ It sounds like a musical melodic vocal slur until its realized its the title of the song. Gor the record, this could be considered the title track since oai stands for on an island. This shows & extends their talent. If it’s an island thing why worry, why hurry, especially with the vibe of I’m a ‘Beach Cruiser.’ ‘Tell me that you love me, never leave me lonely, say you wanna pull me ‘Deeper.’ Those are the lyrics and we think it says it all. ‘Sea King’ is the king & queen of the 7 seas. Enjoy.
Kenya Eugene ‘The One’
If a lady sang to me like this, I would never leave her. ‘Baby my love was made for you, you are the one baby.’ Her sensual voice adds to the appeal. Guess we are suckers for sexy love songs.
HOLIDAY MUSIC
Adriya Joy & Of Good Nature 'Let It Snow'
A nice cover of 'Let It Snow. Let It Snow, Let It Snow' made popular by Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra, originally written & sung by Jule Styne and lyricist Sammy Cahn. Here's an acoustic singer/songwriter style by Adriya Joy, who we do not know, yet sounds great along with Of Good Nature's Cameron Brown. We must say either we have not heard this song since the days ofour grandparents or these guys just introduced it to me. Feels like we just don't remember. Anyway, nice tune thanks for the vibes.
Hopeton Lindo ‘ The Season’
It is very rare that you get a well written holiday song. Well he is named the Pen for that very reason. He has written many reggae songs and several that could be the biggest. He returns this season with ‘The Season.’ Well written holiday song about this time of year & it’s holiday cheer. Mr Hopeton Lindo does it again.
CALYPSO
Crazy & & Clive Telemaque ‘Carnival Lagniappe’
There's not enough calypso being released commercially on a wide spread fashion. Each Caribbean Island have their tunes that come out each year. Here's one of the few we got out of Trinidad. A tribute to carnival which comes up in February for them.
