DANCEHALL
Hardman (MR VPC) 'Shanda'
Out of the dancehalls of Zimbabwe aka ZimDancehall, we have one of the better songs we have heard from that country in years. The song is 'Shanda,' which means work and the melody makes it. It's half in MR VPC's native language & English. Basically, singing about when you work for it, it is much more valuable to you. Good words to live by, by all means. Take a listen:
REGGAE/DANCEHALL
Alborosie "Nine Mile"
Any real reggae album should start by hailing the king. Alborosie does just that with 'Calling Selassie.' The next stop on the album is 'Trench Town' where Bob Marley was born then grew up in "Nine Mile." He is never mentioned in the song, yet it is all about him. Roots rock reggae is the order for 2025 & no more war in 'No Tan Distintos.' 'Uptown Rockers' from Augustus Pablo is the musical back drop for 'Come My Way.' The love continues with 'Cool Down' & the artifical love of 'Digital Love.' Spanish is a romantic language and you hear the versatility of Puppa Albo on 'Ganas De Verte' because he can't wait to see his lady. It's 'Ipanema' that has his heart. "Another Day' arrives and the 'Zombies' are here to gain their stripes off of Halloween. 'Loco Loco' is the third Spanish titled song. 'Club Paradise' has a good vibe because it's that place to go for just that. 'When' is that song that says it's time to say when. The title track is last. Must say not sure that we get this one.
Shabba Ranks 'Lively Up Yourself'
Bobby Hustle 'Not A Day Goes By'
