REGGAE

The Wailers "Evolution"
The Wailers continue to evolve over the years. Now with the fully new band with the exception of Jr Jazz & abnd leader Aston Barrett, Jr, who inherited the band from his father, Jah bless his soul, Aston 'FamilyMan' Barrett. he assembled band we have seen live is as good as it gets. Lead singer, Mitchell Brunings also runner-up on the original The Voice of Holland really put him on the map for his renditions of Wailers songs. Ultimately, it helped him land his new role of the lead vocalist of The Wailers. Their new album 'Evolution" has him in the lead role and it is the second one in a row produced by Emilio Estefan. The last "One World" was grammy nominated and a great all around reggae album. This one retains the quality production to be expected from The Estefan. The songs are good and the cast is an all star one: 3 tracks with Mykal Rose (another Grammy winner), Marcia Griffiths (former I-Three), Gramps Morgan (Morgan Heritage and the youngest Estefan muical member Emily, who was on the last one too. Would you say love is free? If not Mr Rose sings 'Love Should Be Free.' Marcia Griffiths has the honors on 'Give It Up,' which marks her 60 years singing and she still sounds so good please DO NOT 'Give It Up.' By the way, love the ax solo in that tune. Love and music are different forms of the universal language. We spoke of it being free now comes the question is there 'Love Without Pain?' The voice is that of Emily Estefan and she sounds great again. At this point, the music hits and we 'Close My Eyes' with Mykal Rose's second track and the second with a featured horn. The features take a break for a moment as The Wailers fully do their thing. It starts with an 'Evolution,' the title track. Mitchell sounds at home in his new role. He is definitely apart of The Wailers "Evolution." In fact, Mitchell has now broken down and to let 'Love Surrender.' One that happens you get what you want and now she 'Belongs To Me' he ings inna lite dancehall style. Well The Wailers turn it up on 'Get It On,' because that is exactly what they do. They really find their groove and it all comes together on this one. So far this is our favorite track. This one has a groove and we love that melody. The album continues and it is like a relationship with your lover. It takes you through so many sides of love and emotions. It's that 'Unpredictable Heart.' You say you belong to me, yet there is something thats just not quite right so we just keep 'Holding On,' with Gramps Morgan. One day the love has to shift to the next 'Generation.' Even Mykal Rose, reggae's first winning Grammy voice, has to make way. These new Wailers are part of it. Lastly, 'Sins' have to release and stop talking too much. Let out those 'Sins' and then we can move forward. It is all part of it. Do not be a hypocrite. The love will come full circle as it does in this '"Evolution."
