REGGAE
A vary wide range of music on this new album with reggae & dancehall at the core. The album starts with a hip hop track named 'God Is Amazing' featuring Mutabaruka & Vanessa Amorosi. Jeremih is the guest on the title track and is a modern hip hop track with a dancehall vibe. 'I Gotta work'is very similar in vibe & style. Dancehall takes over 'Boom Body' with Akon & Aidonia on a crossover riddim. Catchy tune.'Looking Lovely' is a very catchy tune with a pop feel. Robin Thicke has a voice and a sweet melody, so 'Listen Baby.' The more you listen the more you will be hooked. Well this next one is for the Jamaicans, 'Bun (She Loves Me).' The story goes 'Tell me she did love me, bu thent she cheat pon me.' This is what they call bun. BUn is also what they eat a Easter, which is referenced in the hilarious intro. So be careful. The big dancehall tune is 'Dancehall Nice' with Beres Hammond & Dexta Daps. Sting makes two appearances and are apart of the better reggae tracks. First the two reconvene on the classic 'Ain't No Sunshine.' The other is 'Til A Mawnin.' Sting gets educated by Shaggy and digs deep for a hit on this big tune from the reggae duo. This one also has a remix which is sped up for dance remix. Another dancehall banger for di Gal Dem with 450 'We Love Di Gal Dem.' Similar in vibe is 'Sip By Sip' with Noah Powa & Olaf Blackwood. Rayvon makes an appearance on 'In The Name Of Love.' A different track and song is 'I'm Good' with Anthony Hamilton. Being completely biased, the reggae and dancehall tracks is where this album shines. It is Shaggy's successful place and where he shines. Ten lives and counting, you never can count this guy out. Last comment... I feel the other styles and diversity just make the reggae & dancehall sound that much better. A perfect example is when listening to the album in order you from the Anthony Hamilton track to the 450 See if you agree here

MOB is a Nigerian Afro reggae artist who blends Afro rhythms with reggae influences and melodies of his heritage. His music speaks of the hustle, ambition, real life experiences and positive energy. His single 'Cash Checks' has gained him growing attention, which we can see why. It's delivered in a very different style and is a big part of the appeal. It starts the album and falls as a middle of the road song for us. It is one of the few that actually has a reggae feel, that is the bonus. Most of the album feels more like Afrobeats. 'Animanitarian' sounds like a real word yet it is not. We looked it up all it says is that it's a song by MOB. One of the better Afrobeats tunes. Our favorite song is 'Built To Last.' The beauty of this song is Androgyny, the energy of both a female & a male singer. "I don't need perfection, I just want truth.' This line to me is the beauty of the love in this song, so sweet. This leans more towards reggae. So does 'Survive No Be Crime.' It's about survival. 'Shortcut Hate Process' is an Afro hip hop tune. 'Miracle' is the slowest tempo on the album and is definitely the most reggae song on the album. 'Hibiscus Flower' is a very catchy tune. Not our favorite tune just one you can not avoid, whether you like it or not. It is not a bad tune either. Sometimes it sounds like he's saying unfinished color as well. The album wraps with 'Thank You God.' Giving his thanks for his fruits and it shows his appreciation. Certainly, many people will agreed with him and his gesture. The background voices sing the name of the song and sound like a church choir. If you are looking for more of an Afro music album with reggae influences you are in the right place.
