REGGAE
The ideal discography for a roots music lover still lacked a major opus, bringing together the work of the iconic Pablo Moses. The artist, born in 1948, has a strong musical identity, fueled by reggae roots, Rasta consciousness, and a healthy dose of rebellion. Today, he has chosen to remaster his greatest classics, for a best-of collection coming this spring with Baco Music. An album that brings together his most powerful tracks, "A Song," "Ready, Aim, Fire," "Life of a Big Shot," "Music Is My Desire," the legendary and incantatory "Revolutionary Dream" and "Dubbing Is a Must," the spirituality of "The Spirit of Jah," and the political assertion of "We Should Be in Angola" and "The Confession of a Rastaman".Pablo Moses has the incredible power to deliver songs that are simultaneously speeches, prayers, and punches. Pablo Moses is a voice that has resonated through the decades with unwavering intensity. Born in Jamaica in 1948, he forged a musical identity early on, drawing on the roots of reggae, Rastafarian consciousness, and a healthy dose of rebellion. In 1975, he made a powerful impact with Revolutionary Dream, his debut album produced by Geoffrey Chung, which remains a cornerstone of roots reggae to this day. His unique voice, almost incantatory phrasing, and politically charged lyrics set him apart, far removed from commercial formulas.
In the following years, he released a string of iconic albums: A Song (1980), Pave the Way (1981), In the Future (1983)... Each record is a blend of militant and spiritual lyrics, supported by meticulous production. On stage, Pablo Moses exudes a hypnotic energy that creates the impression that each song is a speech, a prayer, and a powerful punch all at once. Always true to his convictions - freedom, equality, justice for Africa and for the oppressed - he iss a respected figure in roots reggae, far from trends, but always at the center of the message.
