REGGAE

Haile "Spare Room"
Representing the Spice Island of Grenada & Guyana comes a brand new artist to us named Haile. Based out of the UK and one third of WSTRN, This is one of those diamonds in the rough. Haile comes with talent and a seasoned vibe. His new album "Spare Room" looks to be his first major release. There are older singles before this release. He quotes 'I wanted to create something that feels like that space you can always go back to that holds all the memories, teachings, principles, culture, scents, music, prayers and love that we're familiar with.' Haile creates it in this modern day classic. A sweet, clear voice of reason that brings a lovers rock, roots reggae vibe over 80's styled dancehall riddims. Selassie Jr does it by revisiting whilst reimagining some of the traditions that got him to this point. It is a capsule collection of songs that will hopefully become the songs we hear at the dance, the wedding, the nine nights and the family functions. Becoming the soundtrack in the same way the songs that inspired these were for me. This is his origin story. It literally is a 'Big Win' for the reggae & music fraternity. Sweet love finds a way in 'Pure Love' and in 'Half Way' because it is a partnership. We both have to make sacrifices to make it work. Maybe it's 'Ms Gina' with a little excitement. Another one of our favorites. Catchy melody with that bad gal fever. You girls know who you are. A common denominator in the reggae world is the ganja tune. Everyone has one, yet they are not all good. 'Sativa' is like his girl from the 'Spare Room,' where he can be alone with her and enjoy it. A true dancehall vibe where you actually feel the high. Reggae's 'Robin Hood' has arrived to help save the music. Haile keeps it real through love and the tasty lyrics nad through slur that aren't even words as heard in 'Nah.' Cherish the moment and just take one listen to become hooked. Everyone will find at least a favorite and more.
