REGGAE/DUB/JAZZ

SkinShape & Horus All Stars "SkinShape & Horus"
Let's start by saying we have never heard of any of this music, band, artists or musicians. All of this is completely new to us. So, SkinShape is the project of Will Dorey, from Swanage, England. Along with Ben Bell the two started Horus records as an outlet for their love of vintage Jamaican music. This new release is a fully analogue reggae/dub studio album, showcasing the duo’s production craft and featuring guest vocalists Andy Platts, Modou Touré, and Winston Reedy. Blending classic influences with fresh interpretations, the album includes original compositions alongside inspired covers, such as a distinctive reggae reworking of the Interstellar theme tune. The other main influence we find on this album is a major influence on reggae and that is jazz. We find alot of jazz mixed into the album. 'Bettina' starts the album and shows that heavy jazz influence. 'Looky, Looky' is a heavy reggae dub track with sparse vocals inna dub stylee. It is crucial. 'N'Tero' is the first full vocal track featuring Modou Touré from Senegal. It also gets the dub treatment at the end of the album. 'Here On Earth' is a great traditional reggae track that has that feel that you have heard it before. Excellent horn lines. Andy Platts sings the vocals on another roots ruler 'Act Like You Know.' The only two vocal tracks get dub versions, too as a bonus. These guys are not acting they do know and know it well. The only ska track on the album 'Theme For Horus' has the jazzy sound of the horns really standing strong. More relevant reggae tracks are found in 'Stormy Night,' 'The River Effra,' and 'God Of The Sun.' This last track has interesting vocals that are not words just sounds and make for something a bit different. The track is as all the album's music of a high standard. Add to another jazzy horn solo to leave it on great notes. An excellent album of mostly all reggae originals with dub spliced in and the flair of jazz to compliment any music lovers ears.

 Various Artists “Genesis Riddim 2026”
Nice riddim with several good songs on it . Look out for Delly Ranx, Breeza, Little Hero, and Legato while your ears will tell you about Sequence Di Boss, Sativa Di Black1, and Flourgon. These are the featured artists on the project. The riddim is noted for its conscious lyrics and "timeless" sound  and makes for a good juggling, just listen to the link below.
