REGGAE

Jimmy Cliff & Walshy Fire "The Harder They Come - The Remixes"
There's nothing better than a classic original. It's hard to top. A remix can give it new life and reach a whole new audience. The first track, 'You Can Get It If You Really Want It,' keeps it the closest to the original and i our favorite. The song has extra drums for spice and a nice, random, little, jazzy horn line amongst other small additions. The 4 song ep of remixes has 'Many Rivers To Cross' has the vocals sped up with an Afrobeat type of remix. The title track is a bit more traditional and doesn't steer too far from the original. Lastly, 'Sitting In Limbo' goes more of modern day 90's styled dancehall beat, while retaining parts of the original. The fact, that it even got a remix is big. Hear the new spin on a few of the crate classics.

Bayonics "Leviantamiento"
The band Bayonics are from The Bay as in the San Francisco Bay are of California. So they are a hometown band with an international sound of predominately reggae. It tackles the issues of roots reggae of inequalities and injustices. We believe that is why the album is called "Leviantamiento," Uprising. They are conscious youths and real musicians with a vibe. Because of our strong connection to a player in their camp we got them alot in MIami, Fl. Their Latin vibe helped, too. So we worked with them several times. As conscientious objectors to anything not right, Bayonics like to meditate & reason on it through their 'Herbsman Connection' with Eesah. Thi is the remix. Both versions include Ivan Garzon.  Musically, the dubbing in the song is a nice youch as well as the horns. Typically, this is not for 'Mr Policeman.' 'You might be nice Mr Policeman, but lord i don't trust you.' Bayonics always travel and 'Bring An Army.' That army of theirs knows that 'Can't Be What It Is, it funny those with money can determine how my people live,' which we all know is not right. A man knows how he wants to live and its not under the eye of another. We all want to be free. This song is done in a nyabhinghi style with Mystic Revelation of Rastafari & Seneca. Bayonics do it great in Spanish as well, just listen to 'Sigo Firme' and 'Linea Fina.' You are going to really like their multiple voices and talents.

Admiral Bailey 'Redemption Song'
Dancehall has come full circle. The big belly man has done an impressive rendition of the Bob Marley classic 'Redemption Song.' A few rough spots, a tough song for a non-singer and Admiral Bailey pretty much nails big up the now football coach.had enough of your grience.'

Bugle "Apex"
"Apex" is Bugle's new album and would typically fall under our new category of 'Worth A Listen.' It's a solid album of predominately modern roots reggae with a spalsh of dancehall musical vibes. The track that attracted our attention is called 'Thank You Lord' with Buju Banton & Damian Marley. The talent alone tells you it will be a good one. 'Patience, God & Time' was the first single we heard and one worthy of a listen. Bugle shows his talent through patience & time on this one. Any time love is involved, it has to be a stand out. England's Lovers Rock king (Maxi Priest) joins Bugle on 'Love Again,' where they 'rub-a-dub again. Bugle's 'Heart Too Clean' to chat f**kery as in this too with Chaps. The anoited speaks the truth you might noy want to hear. Another thing about Bugle he sings 'it's not my intention to massage your ego,' in the song 'Ego.' Bugle is very real. A true Jamaican as well as he sings 'Jah Mek Yah' with Military Man. The album closes with a remix of a classic from Barrington Levy called 'Murderer,' which Bugle adds his own lyrics after the wicked chorus of the Mellow Canary, Mr Levy.

REGGAE ROCK

Tribal Seeds Feat. The Elovatera 'Mellow Mood'
The Elovaters are collaborating, it seems, with everyone. This time it's East Coast with West Coast, Boston with San Diego. It's Tribal Seeds with The Elovaters. It's a great melodic song that truly keeps the essence of both bands in tact in 'Mellow Mood.' Tribal has 'fallen into a deeper groove, feelin the sound, and a rhythm come around.' Jackson & the boys come with 'the original sound, the bass through the ground, gonna jam it sweet and turn it up loud.' The band collaboration seems to make each of them better. Tell us what you think.
