SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.
Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
REGGAE
Jah Cure & Gyptian 'More Thanks For Life'
Two of our favorite modern day reggae singers, Jah Cure & Gyptian, converge of their 'More Thanks For Life' and give their praises to Jah. Big combination. The King Nah Sleep
Hector Roots Lewis 'Let's Groove'
The first artist signed to Chronixx record label, Hector Roots Lewis is also the new lead singer for American reggae band Tribal Seeds. Here's his latest single as a solo artist 'Let's Groove.' This song is released by producer great Pierre Bost's label Soul Circle Music. As a man we all have that girl that puts you in the mood so 'Let's Groove.' I guess it's that time......
Yishka 'Little Nut Tree'
The classic 'Little Nut Tree' by The Melodians is given a jazzier reggae feel with the saxophone of Yishka leading the melody with vocal accompaniment by harmony singers to give a very nice feel. Upstairs Music keeping it Up as it Up Deh. After researching the song we find out it's apart of an album called "Windy." Hopefully we can take a listen and get back to you on it next week if it's anything like this track.
Volodia "Pour Toujour"
An all French reggae album. It is a return to his reggae form & sound with this release. We do not speak Frenc, we do speak music and the music speaks to us like music does, regardless of the medium. It's a great sounding record and easy to liste without understanding the words. We know several of the musicians on the album and the caliber is set high with the likes of Kubix on guitar who released an album earlier this year that was very impressive. We also recognize Manjul who does percussion and we know him for his vocals that also appear. "Pour Toujour' is an album you put in and push play and just let it play, thats what we did and we found our ear jumping on the following: 'Pendu a Tes Levres,' 'Rendez-Vous,' 'Comme d_Hab,' 'Riche' and Souviens-Toi.' We never even bothered to look up any of the translations we just enjoyed it for exactly what it is in it's natural state.
KULCHA LATINO
Manuel Medrano & Rawayana 'No Sé Si Salga El Sol'
'No Sé Si Salga El Sol' which means 'I Dont Know If The Sun Comes Out' it is produced by the group's drummer, Fofo Story. It's the newest single from Manuel Medrano out of Colombia and for the remix he brings in Venezuela's pop reggae band Rawayana to satisfy his reggae loving fans. There's that Colombian champeta influence into it too. The song also kicks off his South American tour.
