REGGAE

Ambelique "Blind Spot"
When it comes to Lover's Rock reggae, the connoisseurs will admit that it is most popular in England. They will also tell you that the name Ambelique is one to always put out good tunes and does roots, reality & culture reggae, too. Lover's rock is definitely a strength.  So go no further than his latest release "Blind Spot." Produced by the great Willie Lindo and his HeavyBeat Records, Willie knows Lover's rock. He's had major hits with Beres Hammond, Maxi Priest, Dennis Brown, just to name a very few. This time around he's playing guitar and producing this album. The album features a near all star cast: Robbie Shakespeare & Lloyd Parks on bass, Robbie Lyn & Kashief Lindo on synth bass, piano and organ. Dave Richards also on piano & Keyboards, Dean Fraser on sax and background vocals: Pam Hall, Nikesha Lindo. Starting the album with a great song called 'I'm Thankful,' shows a wise and experience man in Ambelique. We can never be too grateful. Ambelique sings 'I'm  thankful for my daily bread, I'm  thankful for a place to lay my head, I'm thankful sacrifice for the gift of life, for the sacrifice.' Lover's all over the world can relate to his next song 'He Said, She Said.' We've all been caught up in the mix up. What a great melody he finds for the chorus and how he sings 'He said, she said.' 'No 9 to 5, we nah punch no babylon clock...slavery from 9 to 5.' The words of the song 'Wash Over Gold Watch,' and an anthem for those born a yard and live a foreign.  A catchy tune. 'Something about the way you call my name, makes me want to hear it again & again......ooooh babe one of a kind, oooh oh babe glad I made you mine.' Now ladies this has be very enticing to hear this song and the way Ambelique sings it. 'Ooh Baby' is one of several songs on the album, you just do not want to end. The classic tune 'Sitting In The Park' is covered with style and the other sing over song is 'Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City. 'What Does It Take' to win my love for you coupled with a sweet saxophone might be your more uptempo choice for a dance. When Ambelique sings 'I Knew I Wouldn't Find' you realize that all his songs are very personable and relatable. Now when we saw the name of the title track 'Blind Spot,' we were very curious how he was going to lyrically do the song. It goes a little something like this 'You refuse to see that there's a blind spot.'You ever experience a relationship where one does not see it and the other sees it clear as day? Well this is what he's singing about. So logical yet almost brilliant. It goes well with the albums last song 'Lost In You.' Some are lost in relationships. In this case, this one's a good.... 'lost in the rhythm of the wave of the ocean and lost in  the sunset too, lost in your eyes....I got lost in you.' Lover boy Ambelique is letting it all out.As a surfer we love those lyrics, too.
