New Reggae Releases
Black Slate - 'Peaceful Demonstration'
There's been a recent trend in bands & artists returning to the reggae scene. One that has not only returned, they have our first release this week. It is the UK's Black Slate with 'Peaceful Demonstration.' A nice smooth & easy listening reggae album with that UK feel. The title track and 'Amun' are the top cuts. All are likeable.
Machet - 'Naturally'
Walshy Fire presents the first record I can say I fully endorse. It's Machet with 'Naturally.' A nice little simple tune with a great horn line, just warm & easy.
Jus Goodie - 'Reggae Rock'
Reggae Rock has become a very Americanized subgenre of REGGAE. With all due respect, I am a fan and it's become the leading Reggae component in the US as far as sales, crowds at shows, and what the Reggae bands in the US are producing. Jus Goodie out of Colorado has released an EP called 'Reggae Rock.' This Reggae Soldier has been carrying the flag for years and is an under admired talent. It's his time to shine on this EP and show the voice and talent of this singer who also pays tribute to his Region....The Rockies. Solid EP.
Takana Zion - 'Good Life'
Takana Zion of Guinea Africa has returned with his best album yet called 'Good Life.' With Mother's Day just passing Takana pays tribute to Mama Africa in 'Africa Unite' & 'Mariama,' which 'Hits My Soul.' It's about 'The Real Black Man' and the almighty Jah in 'Jah Love' & 'When Jah Speaks' with the now ill Bunny Wailer.
New Ska Releases
Western Standard Time Orchestra - 'Love and Affection'
Reggae was birthed from Ska and The Wailers got their earliest hits during that time. One of them was 'Love and Affection.' Here it's done by Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra as a great rendition. It comes from their 2 song EP
New Soca Releases
Ras-X - '784'
784 is the area code for St Vincent and the Grenadines. A beautiful place that produces beautiful women with some of the Caribbean's best Soca music. It all comes together on '784' from Ras X.
