REGGAE
Sister Nancy & Naya Rockers 'Teach The Youths'
From the sound system Queen that braught you the anthem 'Bam Bam,' Sister Nancy returns with an anthem for the youths. She not only sings it, the producers, Floki Studios are donating their portion to the Alpha School of music in Kingston Jamaica for youth musical training. Nancy's messages are rooted in Rastafari, emphasize nurturing the youths, live righteous and avoid negativity.
MODERN SKA
The Calamatix "The Calamatix"
A new band that could be categorized as ska called The Calamatix have a new album out on HellCat Records self-entitled and have that 4th wave sound or New Tone. 'Love, Lies & Alibis' opens the album with more of a rock sound and then brings in a skank on the guitar. 'Believe It Or Not' this song has a vibe similar to Bob Marley's Mr Brown.' Not ska, more like rocksteady and not quite reggae. A tune we like. 'Still Rudy' is a another modern ska tune, one not to give upon. Great horn line. Rudy is very ska. The next one is done inna 'RootStyle,' which means it's mostly heavy driving instrumentals from several instruments. When it's written in the 'Book Of Love' you get the organ, nice harmonies, and driving ska music. 'Dread' has a very light skank to the beat from the guitar. 'Boom Bap' is not anything close to ska, yet it fits. It has a feel that could almost pass for ska. There is no doubt about Raylin Joy is the persona of this band. The question is will she be a 'Lady' or 'Still Rudy?' There is one thing for sure about her and it's her motto 'Enjoy This Life.' The first song we ever heard from this band was 'Phone Cal.' A great introduction that has that raw rockin rocksteady, ska sound, still one of our favorites. We feel a few of the better songs are towards the end including a similar sound as the last. We got to save it 'Before It Stops.' We love the organ sounds in this tune as well as the horns. Lastly, the song & album are appropriated properly with 'Tupelo Honey.' We are big fans of honey especially 'Tupelo Honey' and The Calamatix. A great introduction to a great new band.

REGGAE ROCK/ISLAND REGGAE
Iration 'Island Time'
Originally from Hawaii, their newest song 'Island Time,' takes them back to the islands of their heritage. Taking back it back to the basics, the ukelele driven song incorporates Iration's pop & sweet melodies for a nice change of pace.
