REGGAE

Steel Pulse 'Mass Manipulation'
The best reggae band that's still very active. Steel Pulse has maintained a presence on the live circuit and now release their first album in 15 years called 'Mass Manipulation.' Their first single is still the best and very much in sync with their enormous library. The song is called 'Stop Your Coming & Come.' In other words, just do it no more talking, time for action. The album has themes ranging from human trafficking, child prostitution and climate change. The album opens with the appropriate roots rocking message of what needs to be done......'Rize' so we have to 'Thank The Rebels' for this. Love the melody & horns in 'Justice In Jena.' 'Love Rastafari and live' is the motto behind 'No Satan Side.' Their version of Steve Winwood's 'Higher Love' is great as it's truly rasta love. Look for this album to be their 6th Grammy nomination.

Collie Buddz 'Hybrid'
Collie is a great all around artist: great singer, good performer, writes well, has nice hooks and is probably best at producing. All these facets shine on this new album called 'Hybrid.' The name signifies the turn Collie has wanted to take for a while in doing more styles of music. He has finally committed to doing more than reggae. The latest single 'Show Love' is my favorite tune on the album. The others are the other singles: 'Love & Reggae' and 'Legal Now.' Regardless of your musical preference, 'Callaloo' is a good tune about living the life you want to live, while 'Everything Bless' matches it in vibe and both are bordering on hip hop. 'Time Flies' follows that poppy hip hop pattern much more significant on this album. 'The Feeling' is a good tune with a reggae feel and a 'Hybrid' edge.
