SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Sydney Salmon & His Imperial Majestic Band “Ultimate Change”
We are going to do something we do NOT normally do and that is to talk about an album that i NOT a NEW release. It was re-released over a year ago yet we missed it. All we will say is that it's a really good album. Every tune is at least good or better. Very rare to find that quality in album. It is not repetitive, boring or monotonous. Somehow every song sounds strong enough to stand on its own without the album sounding stale. Real roots reggae with a good message and rasta based principles and very Afrocentric as well.

We discovered the album through this blog, which we are reposting since we know very little about it. Below this link is the full album on youtube. Enjoy.
Ras Caleb 'Zig Mari'
Ras Caleb makes melodic noise with his new 'Zig Mari.' The hook is catching with the same in a few of the lyrics. A winning combination making for a 'Zig' styled hit. Out of Zimbabwe, Ras Caleb wins big for promoting the new money put out by the Zimbabwe Currency by Reserve Bank. Also sings partially in his native language. Currently #4 on the reggae charts in Zimbabwe check the date and where you heard it.
Kumar Fyah 'This Must Be Love'
Wherever there's love it builds love. Kumar finds love and she brings energy & builds vibes.  She says 'This Must Be Love.' Ultimately this love is the basis of Kumar's best song as a solo artist. This song is apart of a 6 song EP called 'Island Waves.' As we say, love builds love. Continue loving.

TRAPHALL/DANCEHALL

Tamo J 'Elevate'
We have listened to every traphall we could find for nearly 3 years since it's inception. It is fully embedded in the Jamaican musical landscape. We have heard a Chronic Law & Shaqstar songs we like. So the ratio for us is extremely poor. That is until now. Tamo J releases the most melodic tune we have ever heard under the traphall flag. If you don't know traphall is basically trap with dancehall. This singer kills with melody. lyrics and style under the title 'Elevate,' which this youth has done with just one song. It actually sounds like it should not be on this traphall track.
