NEW REGGAE RELEASES
Yellam - 'Musical Train'
Yellam out of France returns more mature and seasoned with a really good album 'Musical Train.' A good album is one you can listen to from start to finish and feel good about. 'Musical Train' is just that and it is literally a musical train. It takes you from the old school on tracks like 'Try' featuring U Brown & Trinity, 'Galong' and my favorite 'One Love Jamaica feat. Skarra Mucci to modern roots as in 'Time Has Come' for a real revolution. Then there's 'Nothing at all that combines the two. The album also has Sizzla & Perfect.
Rootz Warrior - 'Mr Warrior King'
Another good album is from the Rootz Warrior 'Mr Warrior King.' A great artist. Always good music, good lyrics and so positive. 'Rootz Warrior' has music for the empress 'Moonlight Bright' & 'Watching You,' for the rastaman in his first single 'Aint Giving Up,' and shows the one for mankind on 'Same Source.' The king does it in a chant style on 'His Majesty (He's Worthy),' an acoustic mix on 'The One For Me,' and even dub step on 'Sign of the Times (Swab Dubstep Remix),' and help from his colleague on 'Heartbreaker (feat. Richie Spice).' Then two kings unite on 'I Wouldn't Do That' with Beres Hammond. One last thing about Warrior King is he always rhymes with his lyrics in a very stylish way.
Soul Majestic's - 'Pass It Around'
The good albums continue. Soul Majestic's compilation 'Pass It Around' is a remastering of old favorites: 'First Light' & 'Stay With Me.' Then there's the new stuff 'Deep Green,' the only way to live 'Right Now,' 'Officer' shows that Rastaman is no immediate threat to you or anyone by smoking his herb, 'Falling In Love,' and 'Never Too Far (remix)' feat Trey Billie. All songs on the album are solid.
Dubmatix Bob Marley - 'Is This Love'
Speaking of the KING, Bob Marley's 'Is This Love' has been re-versioned & slightly dubbed by Dubmatix.
Park Heights Riddim
The new Park Heights riddim has dropped. It must be from Park Heights New York. It features Gregory Isaacs' son Kevin Isaacs, who really sounds a lot like his legendary father Gregory. Top tracks include: Dan Isaachar & Eccleton Jarret - 'Get Ready,' the 'Good Herbs' song is a very familiar melody & concept it was taken from unites Thriller U & Capital D, then there's the Tenor Saw sounding Mikey Tenna - 'Sweet Loving' and we all know or have met a 'Two Face' - Lantan, which could be the best song on the riddim.
Chuck Fenda - 'Concrete Jungle'
Good reggae music continues with a touch of the "living fire" Chuck Fenda with his 'Concrete Jungle' album. This album has a few gems. The first is called 'Mama Love' which musically it reminds me of Kymani Marley's early hit 'Sensimilla.' Then 'Natty Dread' is an interesting love affair between the 'natty dread' and the christian girl. 'That Place' is similar as it features Etana and is that male/female combo again. Etana kills it. 'The Experiment' is about freedom is a must, survival is the key.....make we seal the trinity. Love the chorus. 'Concrete Jungle' is the title track and speaks of living in this babylonian system with the help of the Morgan family.
I Kong - 'Pass It On'
It appears I Kong has released a new album called 'Pass It On.' 'Change Your Ways' is one of the songs I have found that I like from that album along with, 'For Whom The Bell Tolls,' I kong does with NajaVibes. It has that rocksteady sound.
