Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
REGGAE
Damian Marley 'My Sweet Lord'
Originally George Harrison of The Beatles ong, Damian keeps it very soulful and true with his added interpretation into reggae.
The release of the cover coincides with the 52nd anniversary of Harrison’s historic Concert for Bangladesh, which is etched into the annals of music history as the first major benefit concert ever held, with appearances by Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and more.Damian's only real change is “Haile Haile” for “hare krishna” and “krishna krishna.” The connection for Marley & Harrison goes deep. Harrison was an avid fan and friend of Bob Marley & The Wailers, catching their performances at the Roxy in Los Angeles on several occasions. Famously, during the Roxy concerts, Harrison went backstage to meet the reggae legend and photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker captured their greeting, as Harrison iconically said to Marley, “Ras Beatle!” Here's your link
REGGAE ROCK
The Elovaters "Endless Summer"
Lead Singer Jackson Wetherbee is taking his band The Elovaters to the penthouse real quick. Opening up for Pepper & Stick Figure this summer and they are a headliner themselves with this "Endless Summer" album. This thing is bangin and super catchy these boyz are going far. We all want love right........? They're getting plenty and theres more to come. In their word 'gimme Love' in the morning, afternoon, all night oh now oh now baby baby baby she gimme good good love.' 'M.I.A.' & Castaway' maintain their sound on this album which is a light American styled reggae with strong bass, almost hip hop drums at times and catchy ass hooks. 'Sunlight' is their most rockingest and definitely shines like they want. They do a second song for the album with Surfer Girl (another band quickly on the rise) called 'Mind Bender.' In life 'if you really want it "Come And Get It" as The Elovaters sing.
Kyle Smith 'What We Had'
We can say we truly like Kyle Smith after this new song 'What We Had.' We liked him before and now we have to music to back that liking. There was nothing we liked enough to play. Many will be able to relate to this song as we can. Great melody, nice muzik and his singing comes through strong.
