Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
Mr Kingpin "Inntroducing........Mr Kingpin"
This album "Introducing.........Mr Kingpin" is just that an introduction to Mr Kingpin. If you live or know anything about the Dallas ska scene than you must know Rude King, Jon E Bravo aka Mr Kingpin is their frontman. The King has been writing, performing and producing ska since 2005. So by no means is this a completely new introduction. It's a shining of the light on Mr Kingpin. He exercises his ability as a soloist to be at the forefront of his ability to show his many influences in the music. Let's just say he's taking the 'High Road' even though it's the hard road and will work out in the end.
Obviously, Jon E Bravo is a smart man because behind every good man is a better woman. In his 50's styled ska scorcher, he wants to 'Do Right By You Baby.' In fact his love for this woman is like 'Lightning In A Bottle.' So why would he let it go or leave it. The first single was 'Think Again' is the first single and has a video. Musically it's a ska scorcher. In a world of lots of gibberish, 'Action Speaks Louder' and the sax is really talking to us. This Bravo makes it clear that it is not about ‘Should I Stay’ or ‘What Could Have Been,’ it’s about laying it out like putting all your ‘Cards On The Table’ and going for it. All the questions are now answered. In our, opinion “Introducing......Mr. Kingpin” Is the best ska album of 2021 so far.
This is his new collaboration with good quality sounds from producer, Esteban Flores (Matamoska, The Bandulus) to release authentically inspired Jamaican sounds of the 60's. The focus of this project is ska, rocksteady, and boss reggae (and that it is). It will 'Ease Your Mind.'
OreSkaBand ‘No. 9’
Bazil 'Good And Better'
EarthKry 'See You Again'
Various Artists “ReggawRus Riddim”
Konshens feat Davido ‘Boom Bang’
DANCEHALL/AFROBEATS/REGGAE
SOJA feat. JBoog & Collie Buddz 'Press Rewind'
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad 'Hold You Tonight'
Joe Sambo 'Create Something'
Catbite 'Call Your Bluff'
Karene Asche 'Private Party'
The standout about this track is the music/riddim. The riddim is called 'Uncle Joe.' The song is decent yet its the combination of soca and compas sounds that really attract our ear. We love the fact that it's an artists we have not heard, too. Sounds like the perfect blend of the two.
