Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

Sanchez 'What A Day'
It has been way too long since we hear a nice Sanchez. It finally comes with a sweet melody in this new tune 'What A Day.' So much talent it is good to see it being utilized again. Big Up Sanchez.

Various Artists 'Cali Roots riddim'

This is the first musical project we have seen to the extend that has a good cross breed of all styles of reggae with artists & bands from all over the world. Many of the songs have been out for a while. This marks the full release of all 27 tracks produced by Collie Buddz & Johnny Cosmic. Most should know the better songs released by Jamaicans Kabaka Pyramid with Medisun, theres France's Naaman, Italys Alborosie, Maryland's BallyHoo, Hawaiis Kolohe Kai, dancehall artists Konshens & DeMarco, roots outfit Groundation, reggae rockers Iration, Passafire, KBong, more the acoustic vibe from Cas Haley, Vana Liya, Josh Heinrichs, favorites The Expanders, surprisingly Florida favs Artikal Sound System, the best song we have ever heard from Through The Roots, the hot Blvk H3ro, and the unsuspecting Fia, Surfer Girl, DMP, Tropidelic, Felt & Atmosphere. Lots of flavors, tastes, styles and fusions.

Lutan Fyah & Samora 'What You Came For'

REGGAE ROCK

KatchaFire 'Karawhiua'
Speaking in their native tongue of Maori on their latest single 'Karawhiua,' which I know is very important to the band & their heritage. What came to be with this song is a revelation for us. It has been in our subconscious for years. That revelation is that stripped down, Katchafire & Cultura Profetica have a very similar sound. Vocally & musically at their core, the two bands have a very smooth reggae and/or roots reggae sound. One is more rock & polynesian influenced while the other is obviously latin influenced as well as jazz. In fact both bands formed within a few years of each other and have a similar timeline on their first album releases. It took this song to make the connection shine. If you are unaware of of the muzik from Cultura listen & read about their latest album here:

Here's KatchaFire's new single to compare & enjoy

Roots Of Creation 'Seventh Army Nation'
Truly a reggae rock song. It's a reggae cover of a real rock song. Done here by Roots of Creation and originally by the White Stripes one of our favorites from them & definitely their most popular.

SOCA

Faith Callender 'Always Summer'

HIP HOP REGGAE

Various Artists "Padang Padang riddim"
We had a saying as kids, the place so nice they named it twice as in New York. In reggae it was sounds so nice you play it twice. This new 80's styled dancehall riddim has the stylings of both. In case you didnt know Padang Padang is home to one of the best left-handed waves in Indonesia. Growing the surf mags had pictures of this place all over them. In one issue, the pull out poster as the caption to the shot of it....'when in doubt, dont paddle out.' Produced by the legendary Bulby York aka Fat Eyes. Stand outs all have the 80's vibe. They are 'Ignorant' by the big belly Admiral Bailey and the sweet sounding Christopher Martin. Busy Signal has the Tenor Saw Sounding 'Nuh Like Dem' and also brings back Capleton's (who's also on the riddim) 'We nuh like dem, and dem nuh like we.' Last of the stand outs is another 80's artist with a popular topic from dem time deh. It is Anyhony Red Rose with 'Clash Time Now.' Best of the year so far fir this type of vibe.
