Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
REGGAE
Misha1Dem “Black & Alive”
An interesting artist and album from Misha1Dem with “Black & Alive.” From a former record label of the year according to our ‘Reggae Shok Wave’ blog, La Panchita records releases the debut set for this Canadian Jamaican lady. Interesting is the part that she speaks and sing in English, yet sounds like a challenge for her. You hear it in the first song ‘Act Wild.’ By the time the album finishes it is not a problem. It made it seem as if English was not her first language, which we can not confirm at this time. We love that its roots reggae muzik. The first song to put the album into gear is ‘Flowing.’ Misha’s ‘flow’ says dont play with my heart because she is ‘Black & Alive.’ This song is about Another case of a police officer shooting an innocent black person. In this song Misha describes it as her son. Lastly, this young ‘Sweet Sensation’ finishes the album with such a sweet vibration that when the people come together, Its joy to your ears.
Khalia feat Dre Island ‘Wild Fire’
Tradition Man Wolo ‘Come Home’
A nice little ditty about repatriation. The musical track is not very strong, its Wolos voice that carries the song through to make it stand out.
Busy Signal 'Unite'
Busy is such a versatile artist. He can do the hardest of dancehall and turn around a do a full on roots reggae song like 'Unite.'
KULCHA LATINO
Green Valley "La Llave Maestra"
One of our favorite Latin/Spanish reggae bands out of Spain, Green Valley has released a new album The Master Key." Sounds good and about half of it is brand new. My expectations, which we should not have, were a bit too high. Two of the songs we really like have already been released and they are 'Las Ganas de Vivir' Ft. Alborosie and Déjate Llevar' Ft. Dub Inc. The other two one are 'Agua con Sal' Ft. Naaman one of our favorites out of France who typically sings in English unlike our other favorite who sing, rightfully so, in French, Dub Inc., is 'Viento' Ft. Cedric Myton. All these songs add variety to the Green Valley sound and keep it interesting.
