SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Lost Tribe Aotearoa "Lost & Found"
Aotearoa is the contemporary Māori-language name for New Zealand and is destined to be the name of the Island again. Lost Tribe Aotearoa is one of their reggae bands. Many are familiar with one of my favorites KatchaFire and Black Sand Lost Tribe Aotearoa have some 'good vibes going on, 'Shaka' to the rastas who are gonna burn down babylon' as sung in 'Shaka.' Their story can be heard in the Ep "Lost & Found" first song 'Strange Things.' 'Legacy' shows they have the roots reggae sound with that heartfelt beat downtempo vibe. Nice horns as well as the sounds of the melodica. All this is to build their 'Legacy.''Reflections' is a song that speaks on that inner voice of yours to take a look within. Great song perspective. Lastly, 'Lost Generation 2.0' is about this family band that is conscious and has a mission and a message. They are not apart of the 'lost generation.' If anything they are steering them in the right direction.

SKA FUSION

Maxi Priest & JJ Sansaverino 'Blessed With A Melody'
This is a great fusion record of ska & jazz. Thi isa very common thing. What makes this different is the jazzy guitar of JJ Sansaverino. Typically this fusion is done more with the horns. The horns in this song are more to accenuate the ska beat then jazz. Then you add Maxi's sweet vocals singing about being blessed by the music and in this case the melody. It all comes together quite well.
