SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 10/10/2023

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

SKA

Van Morrison 'Problems'
Most music lover of the 20th century will know Van Morrison. Reggae & ska lovers should know him for the song 'Brown-Eyed Girl,' that was covered by reggae & ska bands like Steel Pulse, Reel Big Fish & Tim Timebomb along with the over 120 others. Morrison returns with his own ska song called 'Problems.' It actually sounds good & authentic. Van did his homework. The Official Visualiser Video for “Problems” by Van Morrison, taken from his upcoming album ‘Accentuate The Positive' is here for you.

REGGAE

Nailah Blackman & Nailah Blackman 'Jump'
This is a brilliant record. You ask why....right? Well we have never heard a record do it so well. It's arrangement is what makes it. It starts with a stripped down reggae tune add some drums about 30 seconds in and it goes dancehall. Another 30 seconds you hear the soca vibes. They break it back down to feel the reggae vibe and right back into it all. It's call 'Jump.' If you've heard one combine reggae, dancehall & soca better please enlighten us.
Kenny Smyth 'Roots'
