NEW REGGAE RELEASES
General Roots - 'Walk Tall'
General Roots has released a new EP called 'Walk Tall' and it's mellow, almost smooth, and nice to listen. They back Hollie Cook. Pretty much the whole thing is good. Nothing too strong. We spoke about 'Little Sun' last week. My favorite track is 'Sufferer.'
Gappy Ranks - 'Guide Me'
Gappy Ranks came out hard 6 years ago. Now a seasoned performer & recording artist, his golden time has come with his fourth album 'Guide Me,' he has hit a new pinnacle. This is by far the best overall album. The only thing missing is his big hit. It has good to great cultural songs like the title track, 'Free My Chains,' ' Natural Vibration' with J Boog, and the very relevant to US times 'Red Blood.' There's also the love songs especially 'She kill me with love ....she's a 'Murderer.'
Patrice Roberts - 'O' Baby'
Patrice Roberts has taken on a reggae classic she calls 'O' Baby,' originally called 'Cherry Oh Baby' with Busy Signal. Nice modern twist to a staple in reggae music.
NEW SOCA RELEASES
Cover Drive - 'Up On It'
Here's a new, at least to me, a hot & sexy track out of Barbados from Cover Drive called 'Up On It.' Bajan soca has had a major impact on me as it was the style in the 90's that really converted me to liking soca. I'm glad to see this year as a big year for quality soca music Bajan style.

Olatunji - 'Awakening'
There's a relatively new sub-genre of soca called AfroSoca. The AfroSoca king is here with his debut album, 'Awakening.' Olatunji, is his name, Olatunji Yearwood to be exact. A Solid soca album with guests Machel Montano, System 32, and out of Nigeria Runtown who is on the remix of 'Oh Yay.' One of the better tracks on the album. The big hit is 'Ola.' Other stand outs include: 'Wa Do' & 'Weekend.' TNT's new African Son.
NEW DANCEHALL RELEASES
Crossroad Music Group - 'Rum Shot'
Crossroad Music Group out of Jamaica & Spain hits you with a good party vibe dancehall riddim called 'Rum Shot.' It is for those that are a 'Party Animal' and like to 'Celebrate' as well as those that have one philosophy for life 'We Love It.' Then again there's Kim Kelly's 'Not Able To Love' knowing that love doesn't always work out.
The Melon Riddim
The Melon riddim is a fun, good time vibe dancehall riddim. My favorites are Deep Jahi "Move With The Time' and Double X's 'Get Di Money,' which we wrote about previously.
