SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 5/23/2024

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

YG Marley'Survival'
YG Marley the son of Lauryn Hill & Rohan Marley has returned with his second single and it's another Bob Marley inspired song called 'Survival.' Bob had a tune called 'Survival' as well yet this one os taken from 'Ambush In The Night,' which is a parallel in this way with 'Praise Jah In The Moonlight.' This song was also inspired by a Bob Marley tune called 'Crisis.' Nesta had a song called 'Give Thanks and Praises' to the most high so 'Praise Jah' is close. Ultimately, this song is not quite as strong. It does have those I-Threes styled harmonies. It's a matter of 'Survival' because they don't want us to be who we are suppose to be, but are who we are and that's the way it's going to be. So allow us, they always got to fight us but they can't stop us.
Azato ‘Bridges Not Walls’
Hawaiian reggae artist Azato has released a new song ‘Bridges Not Walls.’ This is one of those rare artists that you can count on to always put out good music. This is no exception with positive lyrics that you can expect….just read the title. If the title is not enough, here's Azato' philoophy on the song: The ooposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is fear. We as people build too many walls and not enough bridges. The time for healing has come. Build those bridges not walls and see babylon fall. Spread love not hate, there's no time to wait.
