SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language. We have changed the format.
Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
REGGAE Meets KULCHA LATINO
Brinsley Forde of Aswad is joined by NonPalidece in 'Total Destruction.'
A nice new jugglin riddim has released called Better Dub riddim (can not think of the original). Nice songs from Chris Howell with his rendition of 'Brandy' (never thought I'd like this song), Chris Martin & Romain Virgo, Lukie D, Ginjah, Jah Vinci & newcomer Da Shocker with 'Graba Spliff.'
Another nice jugglin riddim is the Ouji riddim (not sure what the name means or is, so I looked it up & it's Japenses for prince). Busy Signal kicks it off with 'Medi' and is probably the best tune.Chuck Fender & Capital D, Delly Ranx (who's stepped his game of late), Koffe with 'Burning' & Stephen Dajure with Cool & Deadly.'
SOCA/Zouk
Out of Monsterrat, Scrappy returns for the 2018 carnival season with a heavy zouk track with a touch of soca on the track for the Qualified Unique Educated Emphatic Noble ladies or for short 'Q.U.E.E.N.'
SKA
Two Tone rulers are at it hard, The Selector have their latest album out since their return about 7 years ago with an album called 'Daylight.' The track 'Things Fall Apart' really emulates that two tone ska sound. There are a few other decent tracks. 'Things Fall Apart' is the track and 'The Big Badoof' & 'Paved With Cold' are the secondary ones off the album.
