Shok Wave, Lance-O's choice weekly picks of new caribbean music including Reggae, Ska, Dancehall, Latino, and many more!
Reggae
Jah Legacy based out of France has a really good new album called 'Time Is Now.' The whole album is good. It has a mellow reggae vibe to it with touches of jazz guitar. The title track has the guitar doing rock in this single. My favorite track is 'Riddim Easy.'
Grammy winners & the Royal Family of Reggae, Morgan Heritage, release 'One East Man,' which was released in 2008 as 'One Bingy Man.'
What is the Root to all Evil, what makes the world Go Round & what do most people want right now. The BIG Tune for Right Now so Let go of the EGO. If you need help let Million Stylez, Tippa Irie & Skarra Mucci do it for you.
Reggae Latino aka Kulcha Latino
The front runners of the Spanish reggae movement come from either Chile or Puerto Rico. They both have now released new music. The latest is from Cultura Profetica and their new single is 'Le Da Igual.'
Based in Miami and representing several South American & Latino Islands is Locos Por Juana. They've been nominated for 2 Grammys and their latest single includes Collie Buddz called 'The Cure.' A sick roots reggae tune about the Cure, the cure of MUSIC & herb!!!!
Soca
Flying Gaybo 'Quiero Bailar Contigo' is a Grenadian doing a soca flavored reggaeton track that I really like and I am not a big fan of reggaeton. What makes this different is it switches nicely & smoothly between the two genres.
Dancehall
Demarco & Beenie Man team up for 'Ghetto Youth Floss.' Demarco carries this tune with his sweet melody on the hook. Not my topic but the music sweet.
Reggae Rock
From out of California comes the Roots Musicians production 'Wherever You Are' from Pacific Grown. Nice reggae rock tune
