SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.
Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
REGGAE
The Earliers "The Earliers"
This week we are giving the people what they want. Most reggae fans love the old sound of reggae. Granted it is the golden era of reggae music. It is what drew most of us to reggae. Bob Marley is the biggest thing and his sound is a big part of the same said era. What people do not realize is that sound is still very prevalent in terms of new releases. There's reissues, new releases with music from that golden time that did not get proper releases, and even material that never released. Those are the more obvious situations. The lesser known are those that produce that sound as completely new music. This weeks feature is just that new music with that old sound. This album has that sound throughout the album. The group is called The Earliers and it is a self titled album. There are two singers with several players. The intro gives you an idea of how the album will be musically. Then Congo Lion gives you more on 'Chatty Chatty,' one of our favorite tunes. Congo Lion sings another favorite ''Part of the Ray.' It has great old skool sounding keyboards with choice lyrics. Sebah alternates on lead as well with 5 songs each and one dub. The timing for this album is whats getting it this review. There is definitely better stuff out there that has that old sound and is still new. Just might have to check the older blogs. Hopefully you found something you like. Heres the link to listen
Beres Hammond 'Let Me Help You'
Beres is at the point in his career that every tune is good. Hopefully he can keep it up. This is another one he just wants to help you smile again. His music always accomplishes that feat. Thanks Beres!!!
