SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 6/5/2023

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Jack Johnson & Lee Scratch Perry "In Between Dub"
An interesting combination to say the least, Jack Johnson & Lee Scratch Perry join forces for Jack' new album "In Between Dub." We found it hard to go beyond the concept of these two doing thi album together. It sounds good, does it work? Yes it works musically. After that we can't beyond it. It's literally Jack Johnson in dub the whole way through. Jack likes to tell great stories through his music. We feel the stories are fragmented without the full structure of a written song & the vocals to accompany that song.  So maybe  we are too close to the artists in the sense we know what they do and maybe have expectatinos. This is the first we have experienced this. Typically we can separate ourselves. This one we can't with what we were listening. Maybe in time. So maybe you can help and send us your thoughts at [email protected]. Here's the album in it's entirety.
Busy Signal 'A Thousand Times'
A great new love song from the versatile Busy Signal sings 'like a thousand times i could tell you I never get tired of you.' The lyrics, the rhymes and his style steal the show. Play this one for your lover that you really love.

SKA

Fishbone 'All We Have Is Now'
So true 'All We Have Is Now' is the latest single from the original Fishbone with all members back together. Sounding good in the peppy ode ska tune.

REGGAE ROCK

Ballyhoo 'Clip My Wings'
Howi Spangler is the new Capt Hook. His melodies are soo good. It is what makes 'Clip My Wings' and its not even his best. He's the lead singer for Ballyhoo! His songs are about heartbreak. His recent best is a solo track thats not reggae yet included here as well. It's 'That Thing You Do.'
