SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 5/17/2022

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Shaggy & Sting 'That's Life'
Who would have ever thought Frank Sinatra would have a connection to reggae. Now that Sting is producing an album with Shaggy of songs from Frank Sinatra it is inevitable. Production is exceptional since its using Shaggy's band and the song actually songs good. It is definitely reggae with a jazz arrangement and it works. Shaggy impresses with his singing too.
Mezmo Roc One 'Hooked On You'
You I need to see, ...... I hope you rescue me' is 'Hooked On You' and our introduction to the artist Mezmo Roc One. A different style of reggae and a different love song.
Eesah 'Easy Skankin'
There's two things here: this is not a Bob Marley tune & in case you didn't know this is reggae artists Determine's son Eesah. A nice 'Easy Skankin' type of tune, good vibes.
Yami Bolo 'All Guns Down'
A classic Yami Bolo in modern times. The song is 'All Guns Down.' This is how Yami use to do it on the regular. Do your homework.

Kabaka Pyramid 'Make Things Work'
Kabaka has toned down his delivery, it is not as aggressive in his latest single. 'Make Things Work' still has the positive lyrics for righteousness. As the Pyramid speaks 'the hand to mouth can't work,' he always keeps it right.

DANCEHALL

Voltage & Shy FX ft Agent Sasco 'Amazing'
Not sure what more than production Voltage & Shy FX have in this song, which they should be commended for especially the dancehall to reggae change, which we love. It's Agent Sasco that kills this tune. His delivery is so on point it literally is 'Amazing.'

REGGAE ROCK

The Hip Abduction 'Garden Grove'
A sweet, pop edged reggae rock track called 'Garden Grove' has a nice 'Gro(o)ve' to it from The Hip Abduction.
Brittany & The Blisstones 'Some Times'
Our introduction to this band as this is a new song off of their latest album "La La Love," which has all kinds o styles of music. This is a light reggae/island vibe, with a good vibe so it works for us.

SOCA

Tae 'Party Nice Again'
Meet 14 year old soca recording artist Tae with their debut single 'Party Nice Again.' Produced by De Red Boyz and the singer caught their eye at the Baje To De World final and this song is a result of it. The song was written by Jason 'Shaft' and it will be apart of Barbados carnival called Cropover & the first one since 2019.
