SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language. We have changed the format.
Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
REGGAE
Chezidek release his new album 'Irie Day' and theres no better way to start it off with 'Living In The Sunshine' because that makes 'everything just fine.' Chezidek has really come into his own & matured greatly. Chezidek always has an 'Irie Day' on his 'Journey.' His mission has now taken him to the end of the 'Rainbow.'
What does reggae do to you? How does it feel when it hits? Ask Jah9 and she would answer with her latest single 'Feel Good.'
Out of France comes a nice new album from Pablo Anthony called 'New Day.' The album starts out so strong I think my expectations got away from me. All sung in English and theres lots of good songs I think I was looking for my great songs.
The leading market for reggae in the world right now is France so it makes sense that there's alot of music coming out of that part of the world. Here are two new albums from Ousco & Salim Jah Peter with 'Mon Cote' & 'Nature.' These two are very French in their vocal & lyrical delivery are very African in their musical side. Very reggae at the same time. Both are good albums just bare in mind these elements to and just enjoy the music. Production is good as well. Remember music is the universal language.
Razor B out of Canada has a nice little tune called 'Cover Me.'
Here's one of the best, if not the best reggae siongs from Bling Dawg - Friend Zone
I have ever hear. This is in regards to dancehall where we have heard a few.
Here's a fun music video of a new riddim 'Protector.' I personally like the first 2 songs.
SOCA
The Blue Soap riddim Trinidad edition has an underlying meaning that has a meaning I DO NOT know about. The title track is the one because it has the melody & the talents of Asten Isaac, Orlando Octave, Yankey Boy, Olatunji, Yankey Boy.
Walshy Fire releases the Body Talk riddim with Demarco, Kes & Mr Vegas. My favorite is from the lesser known Gregory Ayuen - Connect.
Sekton Sta 'Aye Yo' on the Folklore riddim is a nice song on a nice soca riddim that has original roots vibes in the riddim.
Lots of soca this week. The Physique riddim has 3 songs and Machel's sounds very pop/crossover & Samantha J gets real sexy on hers.
Then there's the new Vas riddim as well.
DANCEHALL
Richie Stephens releases the Sky Scraper riddim with top tracks from himself with Mr G, Christopher Martin & the deadly duo of Agent Sasco & Professor Nuts.
