SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

The Pioneers 'Jump Up'
The original 'Long Shot Kick The Bucket' band The Pioneers return with a new song 'Jump Up' and sound better than ever. It's definitely time to 'jump up for reggae.' This will put you in the mood to 'dance all night.'

REGGAE ROCK

Pepper “Makai”
Pepper has been around for over 20 years. A band that has never been associated with pop in any form: pop music, pop culture, pop corn, pop as in soda or pop ups. It’s traditionally been more like punk rock, cherry poppin, beer, beef jerky or show up and blow up. Their new album “Makai,” which means ocean side is the closest the band has ever come to pop. Pop is a bad word to some in the music business. We are looking at the good side of it. The album starts with with poppiest song of their career ‘Get Me Ready.' It's catchy as hell and sweet at times but I bet they get even more girls for this one. This one could be their biggest radio hit, too. (There's also an Aloha remix). The next one is sweet too. It's 'Sweet Leaf' with The Elovaters about the good ganja that they're smoking with those girls we told you about to ease the mind. So now what? They are 'Dancing on the Moon' with Edley Shine popping again. As the 'Tides' come in they join Iration, who now knows about pop. What a great idea and combination. Well it's all about 'riding on those good vibes,' if you don't love reggae then you don't love me, you got no roots then you're a crooked tree.... I'll be getting high' is the great lyrics of 'Get High.' Probably our favorite song on the album, which is a tough choice. 'Dub Rock' could be another anthem for the band because you could label their music as ....dub rock. They dance to it, they are the melody makers, the booty shakers, it's the legendary band called Pepper.
