Blessed New Year Muzik Lovas!
Barcelona Spain takes the helm this week with two great releases. The first comes from IRIE SOULJAH with his Immigrant Album. Great stuff all the way through and it's all in English with 3 bonus DUB tracks. I love the approach taken on the title track. Other top tracks include 'Learn & Grow,' 'Elevate Your Thoughts,' 'Far Away,' and the one that features Kabaka Pyramid called 'Inna Di Mood.' A great album that also features Jesse Royal and I hear he lives in Jamaica where it was recorded with such players as Sly Dunbar O.D., Robbie Shakespeare O.D., Bongo Herman, Style Scott & Nambo Robinson. Black Roots album 'Son of Man' is a great album full of harmonies, great horns and topics that range from simple dittos to complex subjects. A band that recently reunited in England and one of the earliest roots band to form there as well. An album that features two lead singers and so good that I can't imagine life without it. Top tracks include War Zone, One Ebony Girl, Guess Who, Cant Get Out of That, Trickle Trickle Treat and One Thing.

The 'God Alone' riddim from Notice & Jugglerz has 3 new tunes. One from Popcaan which the riddim is named after, Vybz Kartel & Charly Blacks. Popcaan's tune is the only good new tune while the remixes of Tarrus Riley, Bugle & Konshens originally from the 'Island Vibes' riddim sound great again.
NICHOLAS BENNET - LOVE YOURSELF (REGGAE COVER) of Justin Bieber's song courtesy of WALSHY FIRE & LOUD CITY. Why do the reggae versions always sound so much better to me?!!!

Green Valley from Barcelona Spain come with a wicked feel good Spanish reggae tune called 'Eso Te Hace Mal.'
Soca/Soca-Zouk
Dominica is preparing, somehow, for Carnival. After a devastating hurricane season music is helping to heal. One of the top tracks I've heard for Dominik Mas 2016 is Luc Leandry & Shalina Samuel - Sa Kai Malad, which has a slight zouk feel to it.
Mr Pearly with the tune 'Vision' on the 'Caribbean 2 Europe riddim' is both a new riddim and a new artist to me. 'I'm wishing they could see what I see.' I do too if it means good music like this.
Machel Montano has gone very mainstream with his soca. There's no denying his talent. He hits with a new tune called 'HUMAN' on the TI' PUNCH RIDDIM which has a Bouyon kind of feel or Creole in case you dont know Bouyan.
Machels contemporary in the business, Bunji Garlin, also returns to form and is joined by General Grant on the 'Feel Good' riddim with 'Time To Wine.' Very typical soca music topically and musically but it got me.
