SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.
Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!
Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
SKA
Austin James 'Second Chance'
New artist, new riddim and they both sound good. It's Austin James with 'Second Chance' on the 'White Wing' riddim.
Mr Woodwicker feat.General TK 'Babylon'
Nice to General TK again, he always had a good strong voice. Who better to bun down 'Babylon' with Mr Woodwicker. Tuff tune!
Jalifa 'Whereas'
Various Artists "Gratitude Riddim"
A nice modern roots riddim from James Winta pre-released by Easy Star. A nice rootsy jugglin riddim with stand outs from Samory I with 'Love And Mercy' while Ras-I delivers 'Time Won't Wait.' Straight ahead good reggae muzik. The only song out at the moment is Jaz Elise's title track for the riddim 'Gratitude.' Check it out.
Various Artists "Kash & Deliver Riddim"
Nice roots reggae riddim with a good variety of singers and topics. The standouts are the long lost Harry Chapman with 'Making Love' and we love the instrumental with the addition of the flute from Sarah Tobias called '' on 'King Flutes' on the Kash & Deliver riddim.
Mael 'All I Need Is You'
It is a new riddim called the Sunset Rock with a new artist named Mael. His son is all ablut you and its the way he sings 'You" that makes the song's melody different and special.
Brinsley Forde & Bugle 'Real Love'
A nice combination of singer and Dj, ones a veteran and the other is on his way to becoming one. It's a perfect contrast of voices & styles from Aswad's Brinsely Forde & Kulcharal DJ Bugle with the only thing we need in a song called 'Real Love.'
Christopher Ellis 'Rub A Dub'
Some boy can't play Lover's Rock or Rub A Dub for you because them can't last making love to you. It's the son of RockSteady Alton Ellis. Say hello to Mr Rub A Dub!!!!
I-Taweh ‘Straight Fyah Bun’
This one going straight to babylon’s bumbo**** head. It’s called ‘Straight Fyah Bun.’ Purifying all
UB40 feat Ali Campbell & Astro ‘Sufferer’
Theres two versions of The Wailers and the same goes for UB40. This version has the lead singer Ali Campbell and singer Astro who recently passed on. Before Astro did so he & Alo were working on new material. ‘Sufferer’ is the first single off the album. Astro states in song: its getting harder and harder in these times, we all are sufferers. This song is topically & musically authentic and somehow still has a pop edge. This could really help roots reggae go far. Its a very nice tune, in fact it was a favorite of the two from The Kingstonians. Their album is called “UnPrecedented.”
KULCHA LATINO
Don Carmelo ‘Se Real’
Lead singer of Puerto Rico’s second best reggae band Gomba Jabari, has released a nice roots reggae tune ‘Se Real.’
