SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

DANCEHALL/AFROBEAT

Skip Marley feat. Popcaan 'Vibe'
You ready to catch 'Vibe,' well Skip Marley brings a different musical vibe of Afrobeats meets dancehall with Popcaan. Skip, personally, still keeps it nice and smooth. This one could go in so many directions. Listen to the ride and watch it go places....fast

REGGAE

Kasfelgues "Other Morning"
Ivory Coast has been a hot spot in 2021 for roots reggae. First, Jah Light "Almighty Zion Keepers", after 20 years as a musician finally releases his debut album. Takana Zion releases "Human Supremacy." Now a third new album and artist to us. Kasfelgues with "Other Morning." He's a self taught musician, composer, songwriter & singer. An album full of authentic roots reggae with African melodies. Produced by French Manjul, who's exploiting the Ivory Coast for good reggae muzik. The album starts with only one of three English songs, it's called 'Wake Up.' A call for all to 'Wake Up' for a revolution. The lyrics state: 'revolution will bring you a resolution, resolution going to give you freedom.' 'Being Strong' is in English & French, so it will stand out to English ears. Most of the album is in French, Dioula, Moore and Senoufo from his native Ivory Coast. 'Ferke' is a strong song and city in the Ivory Coast. Musically all these songs sound so good even though we may not understand them lyrically: 'Passera,' 'Gaama Tenga,' & 'Moutoncurie,' all have a great sound. 'Djeby' shows the versatility in instruments being used and the ability to still make it sound great and interesting. The true African sound comes out in 'Miye.' 'Rootsy' is the last vocal track on the album, last English track and explains the album as reggae 'Rootsy.' You start to notice how good the music sounds and you do not understand it. Shows it's strength. The album finishes out with 4 of the songs done in a dub stlye.

Prezident Brown 'Turn It On'
One of the best from the Prezident in years.

Yudah 'Please Don't Go'
African reggae artist Yudah has the strongest song on the 'Soul Rider riddim.' It's called 'Please Don't Go' and he sounds like Christopher Martin. Talking to his lady, asking her not to leave.

Aleighcia Scott 'Cry'
One of my favorite female singers out of the UK, has returned with a new single called 'Cry.' Always good stuff from her, sure there's more to come. Soulful voice with an ol' skool vibe from producer Kongz, luminary of Protoje’s Indiggnation band, have collaborated again.

Anthony B & Kimley Mayron 'From The Heart'
A nice duo and of Anthony B's better tunes of recent. He's released an onslaught of music this year. He is joined by a nice new female voice Kimley Mayron
Sensamotion 'Fire's Burning In Me'
A roots tune that has the 'Fire's Burning In Me' from Sensamotiion.

Maxi Priest & Macka B 'None A Jah Children'
A take off of the Ras Michael classic 'None A Jah Children,' is actually a remix/re-release for Maxi Priest. Not typical for Maxi to do alot of roots reggae yet sounds good. Macka B kills on this one too.

Duane Stephenson 'A Brighter Day'

Stand Up 'Stand Up'
Love the lyrics to this one: 'dutty babylon a study evil, you cant work if you dont get the needle.' Bushman says its time we 'Stand Up.' Otherwise it's over.

REGGAE ROCK

Iration 'Holiday In Paradise'
A tune meant for the 'Holiday In Paradise,' yet can play anytime and will not be out of context. Definitely has the island vibe.

The Trees Of Life "Tend Your Garden"
Their new album has something to say. Their music sounds good and the album is well produced. The album has something for you. For us 'No More War' really spoke to us. Starts with an easy skank and a nice trumpet. It feels like an anthem that sings 'We can do this together, singing No More War.' The other track that stands out is 'What Works.' The island vibe of the ukelele gives it a good vibes. 'Live life if you dont have tomorrow, love life you never been hurt, dont try to make it complicated, keep it simple and use what works.' From the same song, we love 'Mary Jane grew up in Cleveland.'

KULCHA LATINO(LATIN & SPANISH REGGAE)

Los Tachos 'Despues de Tanto Tiempo'
Another song love song about the times spent together and how long it's been. It has a smooth vibe to it. From El Salvador, a latin reggae band that means The Cans.

SOCA

Blade 'Night & Day'
