REGGAE
Clinton Fearon "Survival Vibration"
A true veteran in reggae music, Clinton Fearon continues to grow in this every changing musical world. Fearon keeps it simple: He sings ‘come a little closer, I want you to sing & hear this song, lend me your ear the message is clear. Its very clear. Then he asks 'Where Do We Go From Here.' This very important question is the first single to his new album "Survival Vibration." He has paid his price and sacrifice. If you do not know, we kindly ask to educate yourself about Clinton Fearon.'Get up off of we neck' states Clinton because 'we need to breathe free.' This is his 'Free People Chant.'This album has great harmonies, musically simple, catchy and it all peaks on ‘Leggo Babylon’ because we sing more love songs in this ‘Crazy Mixed Up World.’ ‘Positive Minds’ is the name of the game here. The next song will make you ‘Laugh Out Loud’ because the song & the saying are both good for you. Clinton Fearon is 'Mr Happy' aka 'The Championzzz' because with the 'Positive Mind' and 'Common Sense' he uses, Fearon has more than achieved the "Survival Vibration." It is back to basics on the new album and it works better than ever. This is a pre-release so no public release yet.
Lady Flame aka Da Flame 'Phyllis Dillon Medley'
What a great mix of Phyllis Dillon's songs done by Lady Flame aka Da Flame. Flows so well. What a joy listening.
SOCA
Kes "Man With No Door"
Trinidad & Tobago's shining star Kes delivers his new album 'Man With No Door', his first album in 10 years. On the album he aims to highlight the diverse musical and cultural influences of his home country, with a strong soca presence, while also pulling in sounds from reggae, dancehall, afrobeats, and R&B. The album includes features from Shaggy, Busy Signal, J Perry, Queen Omega, and more. Inspired by the concept of freedom "Man With No Door" ventures to all his favorite musical places with freedom behind it to do so. All the prior releases leading up to the album are probably his best: 'Tack Back,' Liki Tiki, Jub Jub, Banga, Jolene, and 'Mood.' Come 'Bless Me' woman is a true blessing anytime a woman checks for you. Afrobeats are secured with an island vibe on 'Keep My Cool.' A groovy flow over the smooth afro riddim and Kes' sweet vocals and doing as Kes does 'Keep My Cool.' It continues on 'Talk To Me' & 'SOS.' The tune 'Miracle' is the one tune that gives the hardcore soca fan their time to jump on the road with Kes this year. Reggae fans will appreci-love 'Rise Up' with one of Trinidad's finest reggae artists Queen Omega. The album ends with a smorgasbord of sounds in 'It's Enough.'As Kes embarks on the journey it is new ground he is breaking in all facets. The mission is to merge unity, diversity and creatively explore where some have never gone. Believe in his faith and music to bring us all together that started many moons in the Caribbean.
Jadel "Don't Be Mistaken'
Jadel has come along way from her humble musical beginnings in a short time. Her talent has taken leaps and bounds on the new album. The album has many musical sounds. She is from the land of 'Calypso.' You can't 'Ease Up' with Jadel she's coming full force and keeping the pressure. Jadel 'Deserves It All.' There's lots of mixing of the genres like soca & dancehall as heard on and making her the 'Hot Topic,' Popular in the Caribbean 'Cassava' is a strong song. There are definitely a few songs that could crossover on radio like 'Addictive' with Charly Black (it also had that soca/dancehall mix). Another crossover tune and done with someone who knows crossover success is 'Shake Up (remix)' with Demarco, The original is good as well. Every soca album has party records and the big one is 'Up In The Party,' This is a big record with what could be the biggest record on the album. It has the real soca vibe and the reason it was the albums first single. In the Caribbean, they love confidence and you find it on Jadel's Know 'Wah Yu Doin.' There's a tune for the hardcore soca fan, it's a jump up or power soca tune 'Right Track' with Skinny Fabulous. She get on bad & 'Messy' with Karlie Redd. Several songs have been out for a while like 'Yuh Man,' which is a perspective not really sung about in her view of a next man whinning up her when she have a gal. It's trouble, maybe even problems so take your man. 'Garbage Day' is the complete opposite. So if you want Jadel do not act stupid, try to get her while you have a girl and if you really want her 'Spend Yuh Money' on her 'Fire Body.'
Definitely an album for the true soca fan or even the meek.
REGGAE ROCK
Iration feat Kolohe Kai 'Number 1'
Iration has produced many hits in their career. Their new single feels like they are going back to the old formula of a reggae rock banger with a sweet ass melody that gives the song a pop feel. We predict this will be their next 'Number 1.' The melody comes from classic called 'You'll Loose A Good Thing' originally sung by Barbara Lynn and also made popular in reggae circles by Yellowman.. We love the lines in the song that says 'You got the fruit, wanna shake up your tree. Don't want the juice if it aint worth the squeeze.' Catchy has hell.
