Melissa “Mel C” Chota - 'Teach Me'
The Caribbean is on fire right now from Sugar Mas in ST Kitts to Carnival in the Bahamas to the major early release of Trinidad's carnival music it's the best year of soca music, I can remember, in recent years. Melissa “Mel C” Chota was born and raised in the village of Diego Martin but presently resides in St. James Trinidad. In the pursuit of a career, she enrolled in childcare and is now currently a supervisor and transition teacher at a daycare/ preschool, a job in which she loves and is perfectly content with. However, what makes her stand out is her deep rooted passion for singing and songwriting and by extension, the arts. We agree she has serious talent in Soca music. Her latest single is called 'Teach Me.' A sexy, fun groovy/ragga styled banger.
Juelio Nelson - 'Make It'
Fox Fuse releases a slew of new soca. Here's the first Juelio Nelson 'Make It.' A different track with a different style and that's what makes it stand out. It's about life. Juelio is more known as a producer & arranger. Maybe this is something we will hear more about, "Once you have life flowing inside of you, today is the gift of life."
The Bunn Pott Riddim
Fox Fuse also releases the Bunn Pott riddim for Bahamas Carnival. It has the sound and feel of an older soca/calypso track. Even the lyrical content has that older vibe. Take Jumo & Soca Warriors 'Stir De Pott' & Muzikal's two on the riddim 'Bunn Up' & 'How Ah Feeling.'
Delour's - 'Don't Care'
Fantom Dundeal's - 'Mile High'
Sugar Mas has gotten help from Banks Production out of Barbados. It's the new riddim 'Tribal Soca' and it's going to be a rival for last weeks 'Lip Service.' This is a Ragga Soca riddim. The first is Fantom Dundeal's 'Mile High' where you 'can't fight the feeling.' Then there's Delour's 'Don't Care' who has the vibe and the feel.
Tracy D - 'Business'
Tracy D wants all up in this girl's 'Business.' At least he does it nicely.
Calypso Rose Ft. Manu Chao & Machel Montano - 'Leave Me Alone'
Machel Montano, the king of soca meets the original queen of soca, Calypso Rose, ft. Manu Chao in 'Leave Me Alone,' a Kubiyashi Remix.
