SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

DANCEHALL

Popcaan "Great Is He"
Popcaan knows how to 'Defeat The Struggle' and it's not just his 'New Benz or 'Skeleton Cartier.' The OVO release "Great Is He" is 'Freshness' & incorporates modern dancehall & 90' styled dancehal ('Cry Fi Yu Body' and 'Set It'), traphall ('Wish No Bad'), afrobeats as well as everything in between. The albums two big singles 'Next To Me' and 'We Caan Done' with Tori-Ann Singhi & Drake, respectively. Speaking of girlfriend Tori-Ann Singh, could she be the one 'Teach Me To Love,' is all about? Afrobeats is the hottest, newest thing with the top artist in the genre, Burma Boy, combining on the next track 'Aboboyea.' Popcaan has an 11the Amendment,' 'because he 'don't know about you, but we know about me." The 'St Thomas Native' showcases Chronic Law. At this point, there's a certain level of 'Appreciation.' for his fans and the fans of their artist Popcaan. who are 1.5 million on Youtube. The 'Past Life' brings 'Memories' and shows popcaan

Navino "Feelings"
The dancehall space is crowded and for someone to standout especially with my very critical opinion, says something in itself. Typically todays dancehall has two negatives before we even listen: it's traphall, the combination of trap & dancehall, and the lyrics usually are topics that we steer far from. It's not to say that everything on Navino's EP "Feelings" is perfect. There's traphall and he makes it bearable. With songs like 'Prayer,' the title track 'Feelings' and 'Brand New' with Beenie Man are hard to mess up lyrically. His melody on this track is a standout. His best is his confident 'Born Great.' 'Success & ambition a give dem heart ache.' One to look out for out of the dancehall.
