Zane Schweitzer

Zane Schweitzer was born a Waterman. He has been surfing since he could walk, windsurfing since he was 9 years old, and Stand Up Paddling since he was 13. He has progressed to surfing big waves at places like Jaws and Maveriks in the last few years. So anything ocean related is a passion of his. When he is not surfing or windsurfing, he might be fishing, diving, tow in surfing, or riding dirt bikes with his Dad and his brother Matty. Another hobby of Zane's is taking video and photos with Matty as they travel the world together and posting them on the Schweitzer Sports You Tube Channel.

Zane has been fortunate to be able to travel and compete around the world. He started traveling and competing internationally at about the age of 11 and hasn't stopped since then. He has been around the globe, always having fun and doing the sports he loves everywhere he goes! He has been quoted often as saying "I am the luckiest man alive, but I work hard, and play hard!" This year his travels took him from Hawaii to Dominican Republic, St. Croix, Abu Dhabi, Brazil, France, Thailand, Tahiti, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Morocco, and all over the United States from Hawaii to California, to Florida. He is on planes more than he is home.

This year has been an incredible year for the young champion. He is hard pressed to choose his best achievements. Zane has won so many events and has really seen his training pay off. He won the European Cup Championship, the Masters of the Ocean Championship, The US Sup Tour in both Waves and Racing, and the Standup World tour finals Sprint Championship at Turtle Bay... His Stand Up World Tour wave event championships are his biggest source of pride though. He won on the Big Island of Hawaii a few years ago, which was amazing because it was what he had been working towards his entire life. It was his first MAJOR victory and the best in the surfers in the world were all there competing. The Stand up World Tour Abu Dhabi Championship was also an incredible accomplishment, winning in the Waves, earning 3rd place in the Racing and 1st Place overall!!! But every event win is an awesome experience for Zane! In Morocco just last week, Zane was awarded the Pioneer Award for the Stand Up World Tour. When asked about the award, Zane said, "I am really honored and humbled, to be the first recipient of the Stand Up World Tour Pioneer Award which was given to me at the end of this year's World Tour. It was a huge honor, knowing that amongst all the top athletes in the world of Standup, they chose me as the representative that pushes the progression of sport the most all over the globe. To be honored because I connect with people everywhere I go and share my love of the ocean and its awesome sports is incredible. It's crazy to think that just five years ago I won the first ever kid's division at the Stand Up World Tour at Sunset Beach, and it has just kept going from there.... It goes to show that if you love what you are doing and dream big, train hard, and go for it, you can do anything!"

Zane has been included in so many of the SUP movies as well, like "The Sup Movie", "H2Mexico", "That First Glide", "StandUp Paddle Movie" the Exterra Planet "Surf Adventures" television show, Xterra Sports Adventure Series, CBS Sports Networks "The Ultimate Sup Showdown" and many more. He can also be seen in any StandUp Paddle magazine you pick up, sharing his talent with the world.

And Zane believes in giving back too! He and his family started Schweitzer Sports Foundation when Zane was 12 years old. They have always believed that you should give back to those less fortunate. As Zane traveled the world he has met many kids in need. He has been able to donate money, clothing, sporting equipment, books and toys to children in need. But the most fun is that they always organize free INZANE SUP'r Grom sup and surf lessons for the kids where ever they travel. Zane and his brother Matty, have taught kids in Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Morrocco, France and of course right here in America. Many of their friends will come volunteer with them, and help out at the events. Their goal is to also try to donate used equipment when they leave so that the kids can continue to experience the joy of the ocean! Zane is also a committed volunteer and proud GLOBAL Ambassador for Stand Up for the Cure. He hosts free clinics for Breast Cancer Survivors at the Stand Up for the Cure in Newport Beach California with his family, and in the last 3 years they have raised over $300,000 for breast cancer research and set the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest surf lesson. It is a great way to give back to those in need, but he is the first to say that he couldn't do it without support of his family and his awesome sponsors! Zane may feel that he is the luckiest man alive, but we all know the world is a better place with him here!
