NEW REGGAE RELEASES

Frightnors - 'Nothing More To Say'

This week Shok Wave got the new album from the Frightnors called 'Nothing More to Say'. The best part about this album is not so much the songs, it's the sound. Their sound is about as authentic as you can get for being a modern band and capturing that real ska, rocksteady and old reggae sound without sampling it and being from that era. These guys are from New York and are probably the best at playing that sound. They do have good songs too that include 'Dispute,' 'Gonna Make Time,' 'Gotta Find A Way, 'Lookin For My Love,' 'Nothing More To Say,' 'Purple' and 'Till Then.' The more you listen to the album the more it grows on you.

Capleton - 'Dem A Go Burn Up'

Capleton returns with his classic style of fire burning delivery. It's been awhile since I've heard a good tune from him. This time it comes with the help of Cali P. It's called 'Dem A Go Burn Up.'

Alborosie - 'Hustlers Never Sleep'

NEW DUB RELEASES

Dubblestandart - 'Dub Realistic'

I will admit I am not the biggest fan of most Dub. It's not to say I am not a fan of dub, I am not of fan of most of the dub I hear so when a good dub track that comes along I have to make special note of it. It comes from Dubblestandart and it's the title track to their new album 'Dub Realistic.'  I have not heard the rest of the album.

NEW CARIBBEAN/SOCA/CALYPSO RELEASES

Suga - 'Caribbean People'

Shuga releases a very Caribbean oriented tune both musically & lyrically. Its musical flavor has a calypso, steel drum and even poppy feel. It speaks of uniting 'Caribbean People.'
