NEW REGGAE RELEASES

Tjatjie - 'My Life'

reggae-tjatjie-my-life-suriname

Tjatjie is a Surinamese Reggae artist based in Suriname. 'My Life' is a single track off Tjatjie latest Ep 'My Life.' A different musical track and a nice video with the lyrics of an all too common and unneeded theme. Live up my people.

Pressure - 'Red Rose'

reggae-pressure-red-rose-virgin-islands-st-thomas

Pressure or of late Pressure Busspipe has released a predominantly Lover's Rock reggae album entitled 'Red Rose' from the Zion I Kings. A solid album with good tracks throughout. The top tracks start the album including the title track. There's even a dub track of the title cut. The other songs are 'Time Is The Master' and there's only one master of time LOVE, which Pressure has exalted. 'Once Again,' which is produced by Don Corleon on the 'Island Roots' riddim is my favorite, heavily in my mix. Pressure is always good.

Skeez 101 - 'That Good Love'

Skeez 101 is a DJ who like many other DJs has made it into the music world. This time he's done it with help from his friends Beenie Man, Ren Hook, Hakim & Raven Reii for a remix of 'That Good Love.' Interestingly enough, Skeez isn't known for reggae. He will now with this track that has reggae, dancehall & hip hop all mixed in together nicely for a very crossover feel to a pop record.

Never Fail Riddim

Journey Music presents the happy go lucky, feel good riddim 'Never Fail.' Patexx starts the 'Musical Journey' with 'Jah A Guide' by D'Koncept while the message is really felt from Advance's 'Happy Time Now.'

NEW SKA RELEASES

If you ever thought SKA was Dead!!! Listen Up! & take that trip to Spain.

Soweto - 'Learn The Ska'

ska-soweto-learn-the-ska-spain

Liquidator Music hits us with some real rude music. I feel like I have gone back to a time of the 1960's in Jamaica. First, it's a band from Barcelona called Soweto and they drop a double sided 45 and their track, 'Learn The Ska,' sounds like it could have created the original ska craze. Authentic and true to the origins of Ska.

Liquidator Music - 'Paren El Tren' &

'Reggae Time'

Then the Liquidator hit me hard with the Spanish version of 'Stop That Train' called 'Paren El Tren' from Smooth Beans. On the B side is  'Reggae Time', which is a cover of another Jamaican classic hit 'Hold Down' from The Kingstonians. Unbelievable. Another one from Spain.

Upsttemians - 'Down But Not Out'

ska-the-upsttemians-down-but-not-out-spain

Lastly out of the ska contingent from Spain and courtesy of Liquidator Music is The Upsttemians with an EP called 'Down But Not Out,' and that's for sure.
The better ones here are in Spanish: 'Voy Volando,' which is I am flying and 'Solo Quiero' is All I want. Do if all you want to do is fly to ska you're in the right place 'Alright,' because  - The Upsttemians are here to 'Wreck It Up.'
