SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES January 2, 2016

Shok Wave is your weekly new Reggae music review. Shok Wave includes all forms of reggae & Caribbean music in any language and style: roots, lover's rock, ska, dancehall, dub and even it's cousins: soca, calypso, zouk and anything remotely reggae as well as Caribbean descendants & nationals doing other forms of music.

This time of year is a slow time for music. Two weeks ago we only had two decent releases, last week we did not have any and this week there's a few.

NEW REGGAE RELEASES

Honest Music - 'Kingston 16 Riddim'

Honest Music, whom I have never heard of, has put out a nice reggae riddim called 'Kingston 16.' Good from start to finish. All good tracks and the best are Real Reggae Reggae coming from Scotty P, Ras Attitude with 'Marijuana,' 'Ms Rose Bwoy' aka Perfect Giddimani, the long lost Lone Ranger with the original 'Mama Makusa,' the instrumentally fattened up 'Boots & Tie' from Christos DC and other standouts from Monsoon, Tomawok, Carl Malcolm, and Desii Hyson. Check the whole riddim mix here

Lloyd Robinson - 'Candi Girl'

Lloyd Robinson, the original Cuss Cuss, has released a mini album called 'Candi Girl.' It is a nice album and the stand out track is 'We Want No War.' The others are good too, this one stands out above the rest, even over the version of 'Cuss Cuss' on there, which is his biggest tune to date.

NEW SOCA RELEASES

Ron Sure ft. Safiya - 'Say Yes'

ron_sure-say-yes

Our first release this week is a soca release called 'Say Yes' by Ron Sure ft. Safiya. A real sexy soca track that has a 90's feel. Its when the vibe is right, everything is moving right and just feels right.

Bunji Garlin - 'One More Week'

Bunji-Garlin-One-More-Week

Bunji Garlin releases a lot of music. Most of it is at least decent. This one in my opinion is a step up and above his others. It's 'One More Week' and features Jungle. It's about that last week before Carnival, the lead up & anticipation to the greatest show on Earth. So why not have another week of it. So we say Why Not?
