NEW REGGAE RELEASES

Chezidek - 'No More War'

Chezidek returns with a new song & a new positive message that is NOT to be taken lightly, 'No More War.'

Don Carlos - 'Peace and Love'

And right along the same lines comes Don Carlos with 'Peace & Love.' Love to hear the veterans when they are on point.

Suns Of Dub - 'Riddimentary Suns Of Dub Selects Greensleeves'

Suns of Dub are a group of individual players that consist of Augustus Pablo's son Addis, singer Jah Bamy and DJ/selector Ras Jammy. They also have a band. They can be considered a sound system as well. Their latest release is a mix tape of mainly Augustus Pablo's productions on a mixtape called Suns Of Dub - 'Riddimentary Suns Of Dub Selects Greensleeves.' There are some crucial selections. We only got three of them and they are all crucial: Augustus Pablo 'Africa Dub,' Hugh Mundell 'Going Places' & Linval Thompson's 'I Love Marijuana.'

Les Vieux Mogos - 'Motherland'

Lastly, out France/Africa comes LES VIEUX MOGOS 'Motherland.' An interesting album that opens with 'Addis Abeba.'  'Clando' sounds very familiar in beat to the 'Drum Song.' This album, for me has a language barrier, which is not the norm. 'Goumin Goumin' is one of 2 songs I can appreciate without understandig the lyrics. On the other side of the muiscal spectrum is 'I Am Dread,' which speaks to me. The real African sound comes as this reminds me of a Alpha Blondy or Lucky Dube because of the African feel to the album 'Jah Is Your Real Name.' The great music and good arrangements make for a high quality production. The other nice contrast is the male female vocals are a nice touch. Lastly, the melodies are not the strongest and the language barrier for non-French/African speakers creates a hurdle. Overall a good album.

NEW DANCEHALL RELEASES

Rave Riddim Mixx

The catchy riddim from Silverbird called 'Rave' riddim has the place going right now. The first song released was the Kim Kelly feat. Vybz Kartel with 'Alive.' Kelly shines. She's been in the shadows for a minute, it's her time now. Gyptian returns with his sexy vibe in 'That Ting.' Jay-5 Flow & Tommy Lee Sparta have the same name to their song on the Rave riddim and it's in the form of 'Rave,' as in the naming the riddim. They both say 'grim rim rave' which is Tommy's tune & Jay-5's is just 'Rave.' My favorite track surprisingly comes from Turbulence with 'Criminal of Love.' It's not to say that he doesn't have the talent, it's just that it's been a while since I've found something I like this much and usually more on the conscious tip so big up the tune.

NEW SOCA RELEASES

Sugar Jay - 'Party Start'

Now that Trinidad is over with Carnival, St Vincent, Barbados & Antigua start pouring on the juice for their respective season of soca & calypso. The other island is Grenada with Sugar Jay & 'Party Start.' Normally these type of tunes arent my favorite. This one has a great groove.
