SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Mellow Mood"Manana"

Mellow Mood release their sixth album, "Mañana." Written and recorded between 2020 and the beginning of 2022, it collects 12 tracks, including 7 international collaborations. Multiple singles anticipated the album's release. They are 'Mr Global 'ft. Kabaka Pyramid, 'Laser Sight,' 'Blessings On Me,' ' And I Chant' ft. Emeterians (which is another favorite) and its subsequent remix with the voices of Anthony B and Alborosie, 'My Bed' ft. Konshens and Make It Better ft. Iya Terra. The collabs bring much deserved attention to the band. Yet we feel their best songs are the ones that attract less attention. Like the albums opener 'Dub Jah Bless,' which represents the sonic intention of the whole album; solid bass lines, nice arrangements and a powerful sound. It is also one of the better tracks. 'Promise,' which like 'My Bed' is something of a musical exception from the rest of the album, moves into more electronic territories. It creates a gospel atmosphere, as Mellow Mood work with a real choir for the first time.  As purveyors of romantic languages, the king of European rubadub Mr. Wilson sings in Spanish on the powerful 'Starting Mañana,' and Mellow Mood speak Italian so the song that inspires the title of the album is inviting us to spread our wings towards tomorrow in a similar fashion. 'In My Town' closes the album as it started, with a big bad reggae riddim. We feel a maturity in the sound on "Manana' which shows Mellow Mood producing their best album to date.

SKA

Elevator 'The Rainbow Song'
There's a band from Ireland called Elevator and not to be confused with The Elovaters from Boston in the USA. This band is a rock band. This is their debut single and it's a sk tune they are doing in seven languages. 'The Rainbow Song' asks the question 'where do the rainbows go?' A catchy, heavily infused ska tune that's upbeat & fun and simple too.
