SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

All songs this week are cover songs.

REGGAE

Three of reggae's brightest stars join forces to redo an oldie but goodie. Do you remember the tune 'Send Me The Pillow You Dream On?' Well they've renamed it 'Pillow' and it was originally done in 1949 by country singer Hank Locklin. Notis produces it with an uptempo feel with a great original singjay flow/freestyle type of groove from Jesse Royal while the former lead singer for Ragin Fyah, Kumar Fyah sings lead. The second verse from Jesse is murder, he kills the tune.

The king of reggae covers is UB40 and they are involved in the remaining two songs that make that the blog this week.

The UB40 we're talking about is lead singer Ali Campbell, Astro & Mikey, as the band is split. They released an album full of covers, which of all their albums, have been the most successful. The latest is 'The Real Labour Of Love' and is their 19th. It went to #2 on the UK charts. I feel its good, just not their best of the cover albums. I really only liked 'Once Ago' a cover of Paul McCartney's song 'Once Upon A Long Ago.' There are some great songs on there, just not their best renditions.

Lastly, it's a cover of a cover. Originally done by Neil Diamond & then redone by UB40 & their biggest hit 'Red Red Wine.' This time it's an interesting version done in a reggae/cumbia style by the Chilean band Santaferia. Interesting & good at the same time.
