SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 7/23/18

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

DANCEHALL

The new Kingpin of Dancehall has released his long awaited sophomore album 'Forever.' Poppy has matured in content for his latest album. The songs are more positive and no real bad man tunes or full slackness. It's easier to listen too, it's easier on the ears. The part he left out was a big tune, a hit. His melodies are not as strong as in past times. It doesn't take away from the album except it might not get the crossover one might expect. The album as a whole is a much more solid album as a product. Super clean production. He has his babies covered especially in 'Mi Love Yuh,' 'Through The Storm' & 'Dun Rich' which has the only guest Davido. ''A Wha Suh' make them want to get me out, they can't get Popcaan out at this point. Popcaan is saying if he can make it so can you and he wants to see everybody 'Happy Now.'

REGGAE

Stingray Records is gearing up for the release of 'Reggae WOW 2018' and one of the first singles is from Publix Report with 'Let Go.' A nice sound from an unknown in my book.

Upsetta & Loud City team up to bring a new, nice sounding riddim called (I Love the name too) 'Love Vibration.' It includes a few first for the blog. The first first is an artist we've been watching for a long time and always knew he had the potential, Deep Jahi. His song is my favorite. It's for all the ladies because you are a 'Beautiful Woman.' The other first is another artist making the blog for the first time & also no stranger Shakespear with 'Cherish Me More.' Lastly, a favorite of ours esp. since he's been singjaying more, Busy Signal with 'No Letting Go.' In fact the whole riddim is pretty nice.

House of Riddim has really been putting in the works. Here's another nice riddim out of Europe (just like the one above). Al Journeyli's 'Get Up Stand Up' is my favorite on the riddim of the new songs because Jahsun's 'Never Give Up' is the wickedest.' We spoke about it when his album released. Dasia & I-Razor also have nice tunes on the 'Step Forward' riddim. They are 'Give Thanks For Life' & 'Cyaa Get Me Down,' respectively.

Where my 'Big People' at? Your riddim is here. Do you remember Glen Ricks, Little Kirk, Jah Mason, Cornell Campbell and lastly Foxy Brown? The one that sang 'Sorry' not the hip hop one. They are all on the new 'Big People' riddim. Foxy & new female artist Keena rule the riddim with 'You Cant Hurry Love (another cover) & 'Love Me Like.'
