SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Stick Figure "Fire & Stone"
Stick Figure has teamed up with UK powerhouse producer Prince Fatty to remix some of the bands favorite songs from World on Fire & Set in Stone albums, hence the new album name is therefore "Fire & Stone." The new tracks have 100% new instrumentation, giving each song a fresh new taste and roots feel. In our opinion, its the best stuff they have out. It's six songs & three dub version to three of those six songs. 'Weary Eyes' starts the transition into the realest reggae vibes we have heard from an American reggae band in modern times, especially since the birth of the reggae rock scene. It definitely has made all these songs better. 'Shine' has a great melody and with the touch of Prince Fatty has made this a reggae hit. 'World On Fire' features heavyweights Slightly Stoopid and you can add Prince Fatty who give it almost a real reggae steppers feel. This was already a good song and hit now it will take on a new life and extend its longevity. The sax solo kills it too. Horseman adds authenticity to the track 'Smokin' Love' featuring Collie Buddz. It's funny I looked up the lyrics they have published to this song and they have Collie's lyrics all messed up. I guess they don't understand when he sings in the patois and accent. I love the lyrics from him that go (note these are the corrected lyrics):

Give me that good high grade
That Bob Marley strain
Whe make you feel no pain, you know
The smoke a fill me brain
The sensi a my octane
You know me love the change you know
Lets sip some good champagne and puff some kushenpeng
I hope you feel the same you know
And girl don't play no games
Beacsuse you know what I'm talking about!

I find this to be better than the original & we have more appreciation for Collie's part as well.

We see more 'Fire on the Horizon' with this collaboration. Love how Prince retains the dubby sound that has made Stick Figure stand out. On this track it just sounds so much more authentic. Scott has his own sound no one does it like him and all due respect.....always. 'Is This Love' is crazy. It has that old sound of reggae yet retains a modern feel. Something truly amazing & hard to do. The dubs are as good as they get. I love them with vocals as Prince has done. Love how the bass on the dubs of 'World On Fire' & 'Smokin Love' are all up in your face. This album will open up more doors for both Stick Figure & Prince Fatty. Great idea. Hopefully we can see more of this type of collabs in the future from other bands as well. I know it's going to bring Prince Fatty more work and Stick Figure more fans. This is what reggae needs.

Green Lion Crew Meets Addis Pablo Uptown
More dub. This time the whole project is dubbed out. From the vocals tracks to the straight dubs produced by Green Lion and instrumentation asisted by the melodica of Addis Pablo, the son of Augustus. The stand out tracks are Micah Shemaiah 'Oneness' & Medisun (formerly King Mas) 'Mau Mau Warrior' all on the 'Cassava Piece' riddim.
