SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?
REGGAE
Bling Dawg "Elev8"
Do you remember Ricky Rudie? We have known him since he played American football in High School and we can say we knew he always had talent. The Dawg has sure come a very long way since his early dancehall days. He made it very evident when move backed to his roots in Jamaica. We never expected him to "Elev8' they way he has especially on this new album. I guess he left to 'Father God A Guide Me' because he has done reggae as a singer quit well. Never really heard him sing until now. The lyrics elevate on 'Step Son.' It's not what you think. 'Step Son' will be the new catch phrase and it's on the 'Death In The Arena' riddim. 'They can't push down and call me no step son.' It's about believing in yourself. 'Walk This Way' is the point where the good reggae ends and we would rather him 'Walk This Way' instead of that way when the dancehall starts. The album "Eleve8" is about a 50/50 split. There's an all star casat of Bounty Killer, Romain Virgo, Christopher MArtin, Morgan Heritage, Tanya Stephens, Popcaan, Barrington Levy and his best songs are without them.
Jo Elle 'Give Thanks'
Love the words of this song, 'Give Thanks' by newcomer Jo Elle. A feel good song that feels familiar.
The Marley Brothers 'Cornerstone'
A Bob Marley classic done by his sons in a modern style.
DANCEHALL/AFROBEATS
Koffee 'Pull Up'
Pull Up is a very popular saying in reggae/dancehall circles. It basically means play the song again. In this case, it's much more literal as in 'Pull Up' to the party. This song is more poppy Afrobeats than anything, with a dancehall feel. It's catchy and its from Koffee's upcoming album that will be supported by a US tour. Things are going to get interesting. We look forward to the music.
REGGAE ROCK
Artikal Sound System "Welcome To Florida"
The debut album by Artikal Sound System "Welcome To Florida" shows alot. It is their first full length and shows they have stayed true to their home. They have released Eps. Their sound has evolved over time. This is by no means a reggae album. It certainly has reggae. The second tune with Dubbest is the first 'One With You.' The songs are based mostly on new lead singers Logan Rex's experiences. Logan can pretty much whatever she wants, she is the difference in this abnd. Everything changed when she joined the band. The core has been doing nearly 15 years, if you count their time in their first band Stampede Movement. She smokes or gets high 'When I Wanna.' The only non-reggae tune we really like. The single 'Dissolve' is catchy more pop driven than reggae. A perfect song to represent ASS in a single. It combines their sound. The band isn't exactly kids and have graduated from 'Cops And Robbers.' It's a reggae rock pop tune that turns into more of a ska tune and then comes back......and forth. 'Pull Me Close' has a dancehall feel. 'You're Not There' is their most reggae tune and most straightforward tune, too. It is very similar to 'You're An Asshole.' It's heartbreak all over again. Hopefully things can get back to being 'Happy' and living your best life. 'Bald Tires' sums it up. On their way to leaving broke times behind and not forgetting about driving on 'Bald Tires.' Musically, it shows a different side as well as the vocal range of Logan Rex. Logan you are what this band needed and they saw saw in you too.

Marlon Brown 'Steal Your Joy'
Marlon releases a full reggae album "Something Special." His only ska tune is the hit off the album 'Steal Your Joy.' because Rastafari is the star.

Mark Loquan & Terri Lyons 'A Better Tomorrow'
A nice song to help us through these tough times. Written by Mark Loquan and sung & performed by Terri Lyons. We have not heard from Lyons in a while so it's nice to hear her again.
