SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 11/14/2022

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Jah'Mila "Roots Girl"
This new artist to us Jah'Mila has released her debut album "Roots Girl." The approach is right and the talent is very promising. The album presents a true 'Roots Girl' and the title track is the tune. Her 'Rise' is just that ... on the way up. She starts it proper too with 'Nyabinghi Groundings.' All that starts well can only end well. Enjoy.

SOCA

Various Artists "Port Of Spain Riddim"
This is a 2023 soca for Trinidad Carnival. All of the tunes are good. In order of the songs in the mix, Nadia Batson kicks it off with 'Anywhere.' M1aka Menace hits hard with his sweet melody in 'All Yours.' It sounds like 'party hard' not 'All Yours.'Could be his best tune yet. Where does all this sweet music come from? 'Port Of Spain' courtesy of Sekon Sta, which also named the riddim. The big tune comes from Farmer Nappy and Christopher Martin, a first for him to do soca. The big tune is 'Gal Like Rain.' I am sure you can imagine what this song is about. It ends with a tough pan tune on the riddim with 'Sweet Jammin' from Joshua Regrello. Could me tops this year in a few divisions: soca riddim, soca song & pan tune.
Crazy 'Sweetness'
A dying for of Caribbean music is calypso......unfortunately. Crazy returns with the 'Sweetness.' This is what calypso has always been. It's the predecessor to soca. Please support and do not let calypso die.
