SHOK WAVE: NEW MUSIC RELEASES 10/12/21

SHOK WAVE is your weekly new REGGAE music blog. SHOK WAVE finds music that is out there in the form of Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Ska, Dub, Reggae Rock & anything else musical with a Caribbean origin and in any language.

Here is what we found this week.......Enjoy!

Instead of not doing a blog this week we decided to list a bunch of good songs that released. I did not find anything great just good. Maybe this should be the start of an additional playlist? What do you think?

REGGAE

Ikonji ‘Corona Crisis’

Alan Moe Monsarrat ‘Warm And Wet’
Lead singer of Austin, Tx’s Mau Mau Chaplain, Alan Moe Monsarrat returns with another album ‘Agriculture.’ This is our favorite track ‘Warm and Wet.’

Christos DC feat. Nick Sefakis ‘Be of Knowledge’
This is the new single from Christos DC's new album "Crisis 2.0" and the other good song on the album is 'Long Tongue.' We are a bit biased towards the work of Christos DC yet this is not his strongest album to date. We do feel it is strong enough to take a listen. We can not find it on any of the major platforms. We do suggest you take a listen. Here's the single mentioned above. Enjoy it because we could not find the other featured song 'Long Tongue.'

REGGAE/RAP

The Late Ones “Fourth Quarter”
Very few have conquered the the hybrid of rap & reggae. Its been done with hip hop: Born Jamericans & Shinehead are the trailblazers. There’s the obvious in dancehall. So we ask, who has miraculously bridged the gap between reggae and lets note its roots reggae and rap? Theres only two that come to mind: Oogee WaWa have been the first and now it’s the Late Ones with their debut album. Do note “Lately” was an EP. Two of their best from “Lately” appear on “Fourth Quarter” : ‘Thrive’ & ‘Thunder & Sun.’ Their best are in ‘Feeling Myself’ and ‘Brothers Keeper.’ The impressive part is how eell they rap over such slower tempos and make it not only sound good, it sounds seamless to the extent that it sounds right. The rest of the album holds a strength in its content. Anybody else that makes an attempt at rapeggae has to come correct.
